1 Purpose of the project: - We want to meet men and women in seven different regions of the world who have made the choice of living respecting the environment. ? Through different medias (newspapers, radio programs, our web site, university press) we will regularly report our encounters. ? Through agreements with schools (some already established and some to come) we shall sensitize a maximum of students. Exchanges will be maintained through email as well as digital photography. At our return, exchanges will continue through the organization of talks and seminars. 2 Problems and issues the project will address: We shall leave the 1st October 2003 and we will be back by August 2004. This journey established following Jean-Marie Pelt’s advice, our parrain, (writer and founder of the European Institute of Ecology, in Metz, France) will allow us to discover seven regions of the world where environmental stakes are important. We will address the following subjects: - Desert progression in Mali. - Ecotourism in Nigeria. - Tropical forest protection in Brazil. - Urban explosion and biodiversity conservation in Mexico. - Sea level rise in the island of Tuvalu. - Water related issues (supply and quality) in India. - The gigantic Three Gorges Dam construction in China. - Wind energy in Germany together with the “eco- industrial” complex of Kalundborg in Denmark.

In each location we will meet different actors: local communities, NGOs, associations, enterprises…we want to know these people, their history, and their path which has taken them to this way of development. We will observe/investigate/learn about their activities and initiatives which allows them to live in equilibrium with nature. We would like to know more about their activities, to know the background, the history and the culture in which you they act every day.
