Reasoning and arguments
Don Juan of Gluck "D o n J u a n o u l e F e st i n d e Pi e rr e" of C.W. Gluck, represents a major step of dance history. At the 18TH century, its creation has been revolutionary : by the true concept of the work and of the music. Magnificent subject of creation, it offers the whole mobility and liberty peculiar to masterpieces. Don Juan ou le Festin de Pierre is the first “action’ ballet or dramatic ballet. It has been created at the Burgtheater of Vienna the 17th October 1761. It is a ballet in three scenes, written in French by the choreographer Angiolini from whom not a single choreography remains. Ballet master at the Vienna court and Noverre’s rival, Gluck composed the music following the score submitted to him. The final chaconne is the gem of this score of Gluck, very descriptive and thanks to which music becomes an important part of the ballet and not only a simple accompanying background music.

Outraged, this one interrupts the wedding, makes everyone leave the room. Challenging his son-in-law to fight, he dies in front of Sganarelle, Don Juan’s manservant.
