We are pleased to announce the 4th International Workshop on PET in lymphoma which will be held again in Menton, on October 4-5th, 2012. From now onward the meeting will be held under the auspices of the ELI (European Lymphoma Institute, chaired by Bertrand Coiffier and Massimo Federico) and will be the official meeting of the joint GELA & FIL imaging commissions. For the next edition of the meeting we are delighted to introduce a number of new issues starting from the positive feedbacks and precious new ideas we got from the attendees of the last Menton meeting. The first relevant new is the decision to extend the aim of the meeting beyond interim PET to cover all the PET indications in lymphoma whatever the time point during disease course or lymphoma subtype. Accordingly, the title of the event was “4th International Workshop on PET in Lymphoma”. The reason for this change was at least twofold: (a) the increasing number of reports from phase II clinical trials all over the world focusing on the prognostic role of PET in other non-Hodgkin lymphoma subtypes than DLBCL, either at staging, interim or end treatment (b) a number of new and promising technological tools to exploit PET as a “biomarker” such as the calculation of metabolic volume. Sessions focusing on these topics are organized in the program. Finally, during this meeting some anticipations will be presented of important recommendations on staging and response assessment that will be extensively discussed during a satellite workshop to be held in the forthcoming XII ICML in 2013. Attendees to Menton workshop will be questioned on general guidelines for lymphoma staging and restaging that will be proposed in Lugano in 2013 by a task force. We will maintain the same format of the last workshop edition for the general discussion of the scientific contributions. A poster session with an adequate time for taking a view and discussing the new proposals will be planned. Again, a summing up will be presented for all the abstracts accepted for the meeting and the best 3 or 4 contributions will be selected for a brief oral presentation directly from the authors. The meeting will end up with a consensus session on interim PET. All these information could be soon available on workshop website at the follow link: http://eitti.free.fr. We hope that the same informal, practical and friendly atmosphere of the last meeting will also inspire the next workshop and that the discussion will be equally constructive. Therefore, we look forward to seeing all of you once again in Menton for this next early autumn meeting.
