It may mean many different things to many people, but I’ll tell you what it means to me. An Emerson Knife is a tool with an edge on it, nothing more-nothing less. I’ve never designed or built them to be anything else. But I did design and build them to be something you could use forever and maybe pass on to your grandson when he’s old enough to carry a knife. Some people say; It’s not pretty enough. It’s not fancy enough. It’s not highly finished. Those of you that have known us from the beginning, know that I never set out to build highly finished, fancy knives. I didn’t set out to build a Rolex or a Mercedes Benz. I set out to build a Chevy. One that you could build, rebuild, beat, race and fix in your own garage. In that, I think I’ve done a pretty good job. I’ve built 3 houses and remodeled about a half dozen. I own a stanley hammer that was my Grandfathers. It built dozens of houses and dozens of barns that are still standing. It’s driven 10’s of thousands of nails and is good for 10’s of thousands more. It’s beat up. It’s a little rusty and the leather handle is beat and cut. I do not care how it looks. I only care that it does its job and does it well. I will give it to my son when he decides to build his own house. I own a 1967 Chevy Camaro with a 350 engine that I’ll give to him when he earns it. I’ll also give him my knives. If you want a highly polished, pretty folding knife (made in China) then you are looking at the wrong catalog. Emerson Knives are not for you. The more that I handle this knife, the more I’m thinking this is one of my best designs. Just like a chopped Harley, this knife is low slung and ready to roar. It feels like you’ve just dropped the clutch and it’s trying to jump out of your hand. And just like a Harley, you’ve got to have a Rock ‘n’ Roll, Outlaw’s soul to carry a Roadhouse. If a chopper could be a knife it would be the Roadhouse. This is a bad to the bone fighter with a Rebel’s soul and a Rock ‘n’ Roll attitude that cannot be tamed. I liked it then just as much as I like it now. This knife became the archetype from which all of my other designs have evolved . It is the “Father” of all my tactical designs. The CQC-10 represents what I’ve always described as a straightforward, go ahead design. It feels great in the hand and features a brutish spear point blade profile. This knife gained fame as the official, “Real” knife of H&K and is now in the hands of operators all over the globe. Emerson Knives now offers the CQC10 directly. The only feature that has changed is the logo. This knife represents a great choice for both military and Law because of its true utilitarian design. A great blade coupled with legendary Emerson ergonomics results in a knife that will perform - no matter what the task.

The Emerson Commander is as near to perfection as you can get. THE COMBAT BOWIE I’ve always loved Bowie Knives. I made a Bowie style folder about 25 years ago in my “Garage” days. I probably made only about 4 or 5 custom versions back then, but the design of that knife has always remained one of my personal favorites. Well, I finally resurrected the design and, with a few minor changes, it became the CQC-13. Pick one up and you will know why I have always loved this knife. The heavily contoured grip locks into your hand like it was custom made just for you. And the blade - oh the blade - Hell, it’s a big, bad American Bowie. Need I say more? The Bowie knife was a dominant force in America’s history. Tough, rugged and independent, the Emerson Combat Bowie definitely lives up to that legacy.

I developed the Search and Rescue Knife (SARK) at the specific request of the United States Navy for a waterborne rescue knife that would perform safely and efficiently under emergency conditions. You can now see clones of this design in many other knife companies catalogs and with good reason. The SARK is just about the best rescue knife ever developed. It’s safe, strong, and it’s an Emerson. As the knife gained notoriety, Police departments began requesting that we provide the design with a point rather than the safety tip for patrol officers. As a result there is both the original SARK and the Police SARK (P-SARK). In both configurations, it is a wonderful rescue tool and has been used successfully in many, many rescue and life saving operations. Everybody makes a fixed blade police knife. Everybody makes a great big Bowie-style knife for police. That is not what they need.
