QUESTIONS/ANSWERS # 3 QUESTION 1: In regard to article 7.1 of the “Surface Grading” form, the profile of NS/infra on H301 – H304 sheets show that the NS elevation is lower than the infra line. It is not specified in the description of the item if we are to add quarry run backfill until the infra elevation is reached. We understand that if the infra line elevation cannot be reached thanks to topsoil excavation/backfill, the gap will be filled with quantities payable per m3, article 7.5 of the bid form. Is this right? ANSWER 1: Yes, that is right. QUESTION 2: In article 7.8 of the form, as well as in the description of the article in section 01 29 00 of the specifications, it is written that CG-14 for the beach access must have a thickness of 50 mm. However, it is written 100 mm on the H306 plan detail. Considering that this item is payable per m 2, it would be important to specify the required thickness. ANSWER 2: The thickness of the CG-14 for the beach access is 100 mm. An addendum will be issued on this matter. QUESTION 3: At point 1.7.4.5 of section 35 31 19 of the specifications, it is specified that every armour stone must be weighed. It is to our understanding that the purpose of the quality plan to be implemented, as well as the reference stones at the embankment dismantling site, was to prevent having to weigh every stone. ANSWER 3: In section 01 29 00 – Payment Procedures, article 1.4.4.6 “Storage, 2.0 – 4.0 t. stones, including sorting and production if required” and article 1.4.4.7 “Storage, 4.5 – 7.5 t., including sorting and production if required”, every stored stone must be weighed and identified with its weight. The purpose of the reference stones, which are permanently in place near the dismantling area, is to facilitate sorting during work. QUESTION 4: In regard to point 1.7 of section 35 31 19, are we to understand that there needs to be one full-time geologist, one full-time supervisor, as well as inspectors, for the quality control of stones, or is the geologist only required if needed? ANSWER 4: The degree to which the engineering geologist is involved must allow for compliance with the specifications requirements. QUESTION 5: Can the former access road (chaining +/- 12+945) which connects the beach to Road 132 be used for our needs during the project? The contract includes the renaturation of the access. ANSWER 5: The granular sub-base of the former access road was removed last year and replaced by topsoil backfill as to allow renaturation work planned in the bid documents. It is not prohibited to use part of the former road’s right-of-way for the development of a temporary road as long as the requirements of the bid documents are complied with. The Contractor must submit his method in his work plan, which must then be approved by the Departmental Representative.

QUESTION 6: The documents specify that we will use a section of the former Road 132 for the storage of stones. Do we have to remove the paving or can it stay in place under the stonefill? ANSWER 6: It is not requested in the bid documents to remove the paving under the former Road 132 used for the storage of stones. QUESTION 7: Sheet H105 of the drawings shows a wooden wall to be demolished. Considering that there is no available information, is it possible to add an item (unit price, m3) for the demolition and disposal of this wall? Is there creosote in the wood? ANSWER 7: The demolition of the wooden wall is included in the beach reprofiling work (reference in section 31 23 11 – Excavation and Fill, article 3.6 “Beach reprofiling” and section 01 29 00 – Payment Procedures, article 1.4.5.1 “Bank reprofiling in accordance with gradients specified on drawing…”. It is impossible to specify if the wood is creosoted. Consider that there is no creosote in the wood. QUESTION 8: Can you confirm if all the reinforcing steel in the footing and bases (cast in place and/or prefabricated) of the various elements must be galvanized? There are no requirements on drawings, but the specifications refer to galvanization a few times. ANSWER 8: Reinforced steel does not need to be galvanized. QUESTION 9: In regard to the electrical and telecommunication cables to be removed, are there concrete pedestals to be demolished or is it only buried cables as shown on plans? If so, is it possible to know the dimensions of these pedestals? ANSWER 9: The electrical and telecommunication cables are simply buried; they are not placed in concrete pedestals. QUESTION 10: Do the dimensions of bike racks have to be exactly the same as those shown on drawings? Otherwise, customized manufacturing could be required, which would increase the bid price. Is an equivalent accepted? ANSWER 10: Bike racks dimensions can be slightly different but must approach dimensions shown on drawings as much as possible.
