APCON’s filtering and aggregation technology and multi-switch management software minimizes network downtime and maximizes monitoring tool investments.

Organizations in over 30 countries currently depend on APCON solutions in their network infrastructures. Customers include Fortune 500 companies, and networking and computer OEMs, as well as government and military organizations, telecommunication and service providers, financial services firms, and medical companies. APCON is headquartered near Portland, Oregon, where it has operated since 1993. APCON's in-house staff manages product design and development, manufacturing, quality assurance and final testing, customer training and long-term servicing of its solutions – whether for a system with a single switch or an installation of multiple switches.

CORPORATE PROFILE

APCON Intelligent Network Monitoring Product Family

APCON’s flagship IntellaPatch® Series 3000 switch family is the highest capacity and most scalable network monitoring switch solution available on the market today – offering five sizes of chassis from 1RU to 8RU, and an interchangeable family of blades. When configured with IntellaPatch blades, the Series 3000 is a highly available, low-latency physical layer switch. When IntellaFlex™ blades are installed, the Series 3000 performs packet aggregation, filtering, load balancing, and other advanced network services.

Best Throughput Capacity and Port Density The APCON IntellaPatch Series 3000 intelligent network monitoring switch is the solution to enterprise-grade requirements in the data center. With up to 288 ports of fully aggregatable IntellaFlex 10G Ethernet in a single 8RU chassis, APCON wins on both data throughput capacity and chassis port density.

Highly Available Design The IntellaPatch Series 3000 continues to advance the state of switch technology with its fault-tolerant dual controller cards. Unlike switches with single controllers that can halt network operations during a failure, the Series 3000 has high availability failover, allowing it to be used inline in the production network of an enterprise or test lab environment.

Advanced Networking Services Packet aggregation is simply the merging of multiple data streams from SPANs and Taps, creating a single unified data stream that can be routed to a monitoring tool. The APCON IntellaPatch Series 3000 configured with IntellaFlex port blades supports this action.

Packet slicing and packet deduplication have been designed to clean up an aggregated data stream and reduce the volume of data delivered to a given monitoring tool. In many cases only the packet header is analyzed, so packet slicing removes the packet payload, delivering only the required data. Packet deduplication removes duplicate copies of packets that are generated by SPAN and Tap data sources. Time stamping has been developed to allow network engineers to precisely measure network latency on a packetby-packet basis. Latency-sensitive services such as high-speed stock trading, VoIP, and video streaming all require a network monitoring system that can accurately measure latency. Data rate conversion, filtering, and load-balancing allow you to monitor 10G links with less expensive 1G tools. By filtering out irrelevant packets, changing the data rate, and dividing a high-bandwidth data stream among several similar tools, equipment purchases may be delayed or eliminated.

NetVis provides a simplified solution for electronically sharing network monitoring devices. A patching screen features ports divided into two logical groups to easily make connections between devices. A friendly GUI and filtering interface maximize the reach of limited data capture and security resources. TITAN EP provides a single, centralized point of control for network monitoring in a multi-switch environment, allowing you to share expensive analysis devices throughout your network. TITAN allows you to manage all of your data sources and tools for maximum efficiency. Connections between any data source and any tool are made conveniently and instantly from your desktop, and locked in place for the duration of your monitoring session. One of TITAN’s most popular features is the comprehensive reporting module. This service allows you to review the use of every monitoring tool or other network device in the inventory and understand where, when and by whom it is being utilized. TITAN also allows you to conveniently maintain your entire inventory of APCON switches, including batch upgrades of switch software performed from your desktop.
