Six months later, the circuit with twenty six legs and twenty six local groups of organisation are ready to the 2500-mile alternative tour de France around the Massif Central. And on July 4 2008, at the same time as the Tour de France stained by the recurrent scandals of doping, this new-born « Altertour for a Non-Doped Planet » starts from Cendras, a small town in the Pyrenees. The participants are men and women of all ages and professions from all over France, and also from Scotland, England, Germany, Poland, the US and Burkina Faso. On their bicyles they discover the pleasure and beneficial effects of a sport activity with no competition ; they are « doped » only by friendly meetings and discussions, tasty and healthy food, good wine and the spirit of humor and solidarity. BACK ON TO EARTH shows images of France travelled by bicycle along small roads, towpaths, across forests, fields and vineyards in Burgundy and SaintEmilion, villages, small and medium-sized towns and a few big cities like Lyon, Orléans and Toulouse. BACK ON TO EARTH is also a hommage payed to men and women in France
