INTERNSHIP IN FAN NOISE CHARACTERIZATION ID: NB10326861 Company: Airbus Operations S.A.S Duration: 6 months Dates: October-March 2016 (flexible) Location: Toulouse, France Group: Turbomachinery Noise Source Responsible: Nadine Genoulaz ([email protected]) Subject: The main mission of the Airbus Acoustics Department is to ensure that its products fulfil acoustic regulatory requirements and airlines demands related to exterior noise (for the surroundings of airports) and interior noise (for passengers and crew). To ensure these objectives for future products, it is necessary to develop acoustic prediction capabilities and investigate noise reduction means. Future Ultra High Bypass Ratio (UHBR) turbofan engines present new acoustic risks and challenges due to their shorter air intakes and larger fan diameters leading to higher interaction between the engine and the aircraft which will affect the fan noise source. The main objective of this internship is to improve fan noise characterization and prediction methods in order to evaluate the risk of fan noise for future UHBR driven aircraft. Within the Airbus turbomachinery noise sources group, the trainee will analyze acoustic data from full-scale tests, for various static/flight conditions. The trainee will also work on the assessment of fan noise prediction models and study the sensitivity of fan noise to different driving parameters. This internship will be Airbus Confidential.
