I am looking for the first data-related job to start my career in Data Science. With a passion for Data Science and Machine Learning, I am very interested in the job “Data Scientist” offered by your company. That motivates me to apply for this job with enthusiasm. I was impressed by Machine Learning when I was in my second year at the University of Science in Vietnam. I found it extremely useful because it automates things and reduces a great deal of human effort. For the rest of my undergraduate years, I focused on the problem of Pattern Recognition. I was selected by my university to do a research internship at the Machine Learning Lab of POSTECH in Korea. I did a literature review on the Gesture Recognition problem and chose a robust method to apply and test. My Bachelor thesis was to develop a real-time system using Human Sketch Recognition. After graduation, I went to Télécom ParisTech in France for an Engineering program specializing in Statistical Learning and Data Mining to deepen my knowledge of Machine Learning. Moreover, I felt curious and excited with the explosion of Big Data, so I decided to immerse myself in the field of Data Science which makes the most of my Machine Learning knowledge. For that reason, I picked several data-oriented courses to learn, e.g. the courses “Mining of Massive Datasets” and “Data Visualization” at Télécom ParisTech and the edX online course “Analytics Edge” taught by MIT in which I also applied my knowledge and skills in a Kaggle competition on solving a real world problem. My experiences with Machine Learning were also gained more during the 6-month graduation internship as a Machine Learning Intern at a French startup called Sevenhugs in which I had to improve the detection of users sleep and wake time for their sleep tracking product. I hope my experiences in three countries would be helpful for your company. I am optimistic, creative and enjoy thinking of new ideas. That is why I love smart things and innovation. In addition, being an engineer with enthusiasm and a high ability of self-study, I always learn new things quickly. I am also flexible and sociable, which helps me to fit easily into any team.
