SOA Lock-in
La soriée SOA Lock-in a été un grand succès. 56 étudiants du Middle school et du 1er cycle ont participé à cet événement. Ils étaient encadrés par des lycéens. Au total, les éudiants ont gagné 7'000 CHF, ce qui représente environ 25% des coûts de gestion annuels pour l'orphelinat SOCH en Zambie. Un grand merci à Stefan Popp, Evgenia Farcy, Camille Roussel, et Aisha Sadozai pour leur participation.
The SOA Lock-in was a great success on Friday night. 56 students participated from both the MS and 1er Cycle, as well as High School leaders. In total, students earned about 7000 CHF, which represents roughly 25% of the total annual running costs of the SOCH orphanage in Zambia - i.e. the feeding, clothing, education and care of 44 children at the SOCH orphanage. Special thanks to Stefan Popp, Evgenia Farcy, Camille Roussel, and Aisha Sadozai for their participation.

Nos étudiants se préparent à des métiers qui n’existent peut-être pas à ce jour. L’innovation technologique et l’économie mondiale offrent des opportunités professionnelles intéressantes à nos enfants. Le 4 février dernier, nous avons organisé un salon des métiers pour les étudiants de G10-11, IG2, IB1, seconde et première. Au total, ce sont 21 professionnels travaillant dans divers domaines tels que le marketing, la médecine, l’art, les relations internationales, l’ingénierie et l’hôtellerie, qui ont passé l’après-midi à discuter en petits groupes avec les élèves.

Our students are preparing for careers that may not exist today. Technological innovation and the globalized economy offer exciting paths for our children. On 4 February, we held a Career Fair for students in G10-11, IG2, IB1, seconde and première. Twenty-one professionals from such fields as marketing, medicine, art, international affairs, engineering and hospitality spent the afternoon meeting with students in small discussion groups.

A lot of activities have been organised for our boarders ! Most of them went in Crans Montana for a great weekend with a wonderful weather, while others attended several day trips such as a visit to Chateaux d’Oex, an afternoon playing lasertag, the show Disney on Ice, the Exhibition Art Genève and Ice Skating in Nyon.

Les PS1 sont allés voir “Gribouilli”, un spectacle de marionettes destiné à ce jeune public. Les enfants ont vu un gribouillon devenir une marionette et cela leur a énormément plu ! Ce spectacle a suscité de nombreuses discussions en classe !
The PS1 children went to see "Gribouilli", a puppet show very well suited to this young audience. The children watched a scribble become a puppet and enjoyed it immensely..... It then prompted some lively discussions in the classroom!

Les élèves ont accueilli Suzie Morgenstern, auteur de littérature jeunesse, qui leur a parlé de son métier d’écrivain et de ses prochains livres. Elle leur a même lu un de ses premiers albums.
Last week the Grade 2 and Bilingual 2 children came to school to find a classroom out of bounds in their building. There was red barrier tape, a “Do Not Enter” sign and cones. What could have happened?

1er cycle Les 5ème/Grade 7 visiteront le CERN le 17 février et le groupe Communication 6ème, 5ème et 4ème visiteront la RTS le 18 février. 2nd cycle Réunion d’information sur l’orientation le 19 février à 18 h à l’Auditoire Eiger pour les classes de 2nde Baccalauréat. Accueil des élèves de Leman Manhattan : Les élèves américains seront en Suisse à partir du 16 février et jusqu’au 7 mars. Les élèves du collège du Leman se rendront à New York du 28 mars au 18 avril.

Visiting Author: novelist Sarwat Chadda met with Grade 5-8 and bilingual Francophone students on Wednesday and encouraged young writers with great enthusiasm. 6th annual 'SOA Lock-in': the 56 Middle School participants spent a night 'going without' in order to raise funds for the Zambian orphanage which SOA (Serenje Orphans Appeal) supports.

The IGCSE (year 2) and AP mock examinations will take place from Monday 2nd to Tuesday 10th March. Option Choices : the deadline is today ! Students who have not handed in their sheet must do so as soon as possible. Three Campuses ..... One School Cultural Exchange Four students from Leman Manhattan Preparatory School will be staying with us from 15th February to 7th March. They are participating in the launch of the ‘Three Campuses – One School’ project.
