Diane Ching, President of the M.E. Society of Edmonton
Ms. Diane Ching has served on the Executive Board of the M.E. Society of Edmonton since 2008 and is currently the President. The M.E. Society of Edmonton began in the 1980's and incorporated as a registered charity in 1991 with a vision to promote an understanding of myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) and chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). Currently operated by a volunteer board, the Society educates medical and legal health care professionals and advocates for better treatment and services for patients, families and caregivers affected by ME and/or CFS.
Diane began displaying from symptoms of ME/CFS after suffering from endocarditis and undergoing heart surgery in 2001. A continuing decline in health did not lead to diagnosis until 2007. She was then placed on long-term disability. Keeping the Society in operation and providing continued support, hope and treatment for the silent sufferers is what motivates Diane.

M Diane Ching siège au comité de direction de la société d’EM d’Edmonton depuis 2008, où elle agit actuellement comme présidente. La société d’EM d’Edmonton a été fondée dans les années 1980 et constituée en organisme de bienfaisance enregistré en 1991. Elle vise à mieux faire connaître l’encéphalomyélite myalgique (EM) et le syndrome de fatigue chronique (SFC). La société est actuellement exploitée par un conseil bénévole; elle forme les professionnels de santé et du droit et milite pour de meilleurs traitements et services aux patients, aux familles et aux soignants touchés par l’EM/SFC. Diane a commencé à présenter des symptômes d’EM/SFC en 2001, après avoir souffert d’une endocardite et subi une chirurgie cardiaque. C’est seulement en 2007, après la dégradation continue de son état de santé, que le diagnostic d’EM/SFC a pu enfin être posé; elle a alors été mise en congé d’invalidité longue durée. Diane puise sa motivation dans la direction de la société et l’offre de soutien, d’espoir et de traitements aux personnes atteintes d’EM ou de SFC qui souffrent en silence.
