At the time of the closing ceremony of the championship young France that unfolded itself to Vieux-Boucau on 26th of august 2002, the President of the French Federation of fishing at Sea , wondered me to receive the 14th World Championship. Of course, I did not hesitate a second in front of this mark of confidence which honours on village. On town possesses a rich maritime passed that deserves to be known and that we will shave with you. The Landes coast is wild and preserved, with its dunes of fine sand, with a length 80 km his area is a unique site on the atlantic front. Vieux- Boucau is a seaside resort with 1400 inhabitants in winter , and reaches about 20000 residents in summer. Visitors come from all the regions of France but also from many Europe counties. Therefore , we will shave on welcoming sense with you. Town services as well as the numerous volunteer will be attentive to your expectations in order that you stay be as pleasant as possible. The town hall of Vieux Boucau, the Tourist Office, the surf casting club Port d’Albret, are particularly honoured to be entrusted with the organization of the fourteenth world championship shore angling-clubs which will take place from May 14th to May 21st 2006. The surf casting club of Port d’Albret was pleased to organize in 2002 the twelfth French Youth championship which was held under perfect conditions. Of course, all will be done so that this world championship can be a success and for you to have an excellent memory of it. We hope that each one, competitor or guide, will appreciate our hospitality, our good manners as well as the involvement of the whole of our village for such a demonstration. VIEUX-BOUCAU PORT D’ALBRET Vieux Boucau is a tourist city situated in edge of the Atlantic Ocean. Grafted on the village between the dune and the forest, the new unit tourist of Port d’Albret was built around the marine lake which one reaches by the Mail, superb flowered walk, true jewel of the station. Beaches offer to the tourists possibilities of bathe in full safety. A splendid pier out of wooden, attended by the fishermen, led to the stopping whose operation ensures the maintenance of water and their renewal at the time of the tides. At sea, a double sea-wall fixes the banks of the channel. Within this exceptional framework, tracks for bicycle and pedestrian paths offer ideal conditions for the relaxation, leisure and sports activities, while allowing to discover the natural aspects of the station, the forest of pines, the marine lake, the Ocean. The asset of Vieux boucau it is also, from June to September, daily and varied night animations. Vieux Boucau counts 1.400 inhabitants in winter period, 20 000 in summery season, it is also the smallest beach of the littoral landais : 2 kilometres length.

ACCOMODATION AND CATERING DURING YOUR STAY For this championship you will be placed in a holidays village located at the entry of Vieux Boucau and at 5 minutes of the center of the town. Lodging in base doubles with bathroom and toilets to divide. The service comfort, beds made at the arrival, bathroom linen provided, assured starting household. Full pension to the lunch of the first day to the breakfast of the starting day. During the meals, drinks and coffees included ( except coffee of the evening). Daily animation suggested on the spot of the stay included. The meals of midday, of the evening as well as the breakfasts will be been useful in a dinning room inside the holiday village. A bar will be opened at the hours of meal for the paying consumptions others that those of the meals. DESCRIPTION OF THE PLACES OF FISHING The littoral landais is made up long fine sand beaches and easy access. The three beaches planned for the championship are identical. Beach of Soustons : 1km500 of Vieux Boucau and the place of lodging. Beach of Messanges : 7 km of Vieux Boucau ant the place of lodging. Beach of Vieux Boucau : 2 km of the place of lodging. The beaches are a width ranging between around fifty and one hundred meters to high tide and between one hundred and one hundred fifty meters to low tide. The high of the beach is made of soft, fine and gilded sand, on the bottom of the beach we can find, by place, more or less large gravel layers. Between the beach of Soustons and Vieux Boucau, a channel is thrown, from where it goes down fresh water but also salted water which fills, to the high tides, the marine lake of Vieux Boucau. The beaches consist of “baïnes” more or less large followed of a sand bank. In these “baïnes”, and according to the state of the sea, the current can be relatively strong there. On the sand banks, the waves are formed and whiter than in a “baïnes”. The depth of the “baïnes” to the full seas depends on the coefficient of tide. The salinity of water is of a good level, the water is of a dark blue sometimes very dark. The tides follow a cycle which sees water being withdrawn and returning twice by day. Downward tide or backward flow : activate during more than six hours, she is followed of a stall of low tide during about 20 minutes. Rising tide or flow : start after the stall of low tide and also last six hours, she is followed of a stall of full sea during about 20 minutes. At this time of the year, the water starts to be heated approximately 12 to 15 degrees, during the summer she can reach 22 degrees. Vieux Boucau profits from a very good annual sunning as well as a very good temperate climate all the year.

PLACE OF RETREAT A place of retreat will be envisaged in the event of bad weather. This place will be surely the channel of Hossegor which is at twenty kilometres to Vieux Boucau. This channel feeds a lake which is emptied and fills at the rhythm of the tides. The fish are the same that at the sea with moreover, eels and “vieilles”. The decision of fold will be made by the jury and the director of the competition only if the conditions weather are bad and the Ocean present a large danger.

EQUIPMENT OF FISHING ADVISED - Fishing rod from 4,20m to 5 m of a power to 100 / 200 grs - Winch with fixed drum or revolving drum with nylon thread of diameter 0.28 to 0.35 mm and a snatch from 0.40 to 0.45 mm. - Hooks going of 2 at 8 iron end, semi-long or short pole. - 3 simple hooks maximum by bottom of line. -

The use of hooks stainless or others which cannot be corroded by sea water is prohibited. The minimal size of the hooks to be used in the competitions FIP / M is fixed at the hook n°10. BAITS: They will be provided by Normandie baits, what is a pledge of quality and serious. 4 or 5 kinds of baits are envisaged, 2 kinds will be changed each day: half hard, hard, American, will die, launch; the organization reserves the right to modify the baits according to the possibilities of the moment. SECURITY ON THE BEACH The security on the beach will be ensured by 4 or 5 first-aid workers of the civil protection of Soustons. They will be in contact with doctor of Vieux Boucau and the S.A.M.U. hospital of Dax. 1 or 2 lifeguards will be also on the beach and will circulate in a vehicle 4x4 with the first-aid workers. The rescue station of each beach where the competition will take place, will be open for first aid. 3 or 4 vehicles 4x4 will be on the beach and will circulate in a well defined corridor. They could be also used to transport the people most distant before the beginning and the end from each round. A distance of security of 10 meters is provided between the limit of the sectors and the spectators, that the vehicles 4x4 with the first-aid workers will circulate in this corridor.

SECURITY AT THE HOLIDAY VILLAGE There will be no first-aid workers on the spot, 4 doctors being on the spot of Vieux Boucau, first aid (firemen of Vieux Boucau) are quickly on the spot, in the 5 minutes following the call.
