Requirements Basic understanding of Level 1 Skills • To understand the approaches and mechanisms which ensure learning continuity between the different cycles in the primary school • To know the pedagogical movements which have influenced contemporary pedagogy • To identify the partners of the school and understand their role Programme content • Evolution of pedagogical movements in the primary school : from traditional teaching to New Education. • New Education : o Montessori, Decroly, Cousinet, Freinet. o Characteristics of New Education o Knowledge of the pedagogical innovations of the 4 pedagogues quoted and what prompted these innovations o Their influence in today’s French schools • What does to educate mean ? Which values should the act of educating transmit ? o Students’ ideas on the values they would like to transmit as educators o Discussion of the different values expressed o Definition of values. From an individual’s perception to the group’s perception : the universal dimension of values • Which values are communicated by the republican school ?. Methodology • Theory. • Individual and/or group research followed by oral presentations by students. • Group work to structure knowledge acquired.
