LAST MONTHS CLUB MEETING
Breakthru' opened the evening with a selection of tunes and a few Cliff vocals from Paul Larkin and then Steve Deeds sang Theme for a Dream before the club members took over. As John Ross was on holiday, Bob Withrington stood in for him on Bass (and what a good job he did – lots of practice for the French tour in October). We also had an extra drummer who usually plays with an orchestra on Fridays and Mark Winter playing who is now back from his trip to America who joined in for a few tunes during the evening. The line up for Breakthru' on the night was John Ward on Keyboards, John Woolley on left Drums, Greg Wheeler on right Drums, Steve Deeds on Rhythm, Bob Withrington on Bass, Paul Larkin on Lead Guitar/Vocals and Peter Netley on Lead/Rhythm Guitar. Windjammer Robin Surridge – This Ol' House, Going Home THE ROCK 'N' ROLL SECTION Stuart Osbourne – Great Balls of Fire, Rockabilly Boogie Paul Larkin – Nine Times out of Ten, Mean Woman Blues, Oh Boy, At The Hop THE FRENCH CONNECTION Bob on Bass, Roy on Lead/Rhythm, John on Lead/Rhythm, Mark on Drums for a few numbers that they will be playing in France in October. For the night I ran the backing tracks as I will be standing in for Bob in October and I needed a few lessons to make sure that I press all the right buttons in the right order on the night, so far no one has complained or offered to take over so my new role is safe for the moment. SHOTGUN Ltd TO BE APPEARING AT OUR 20TH NOVEMBER MEETING Our good friends from France “SHOTGUN Ltd” will be making a very welcome return visit to the Surrey Shadows Club at our club meeting on 20th November.
