Le Futur Proche In French we sometimes use the verb ‘aller’ to talk about things we are going to do in the near future. e.g. I am going to do my homework

-

Je vais faire mes devoirs

In this case we conjugate the verb ‘aller’ to agree with the person we are talking about, and the next verb is left in the infinitive. What do the following mean?

Je vais aller au cinema demain Tu vas écouter la musique dans ta chambre Nous allons prendre le train à la plage

Note how the second verb in the sentence (in bold writing) is in the infinitive. To write a sentence in the negative in the future you simply put ne before the verb aller and pas after the verb aller. e.g. Je ne vais pas manger les frites Now try the following exercises: a. Fill in the blanks with the infinitive of the verb in brackets. 1. Vous allez __________ les courses au supermarché? (to do) 2. Mes amis vont __________ pour l’examen. (to study) 3.
