Legend of the castle of Pirou’ geese. Once upon a time, a very long time ago, planes, cars and even bikes did not exist then a rich lord called “Sire of Pirou”, lived very near to the sea. In this quiet place, he lived in the midst of the family, his servants and his bodyguards. Sadly for them, pirates often arrived by the sea to plunder, steal and burn their houses. To protect them, he decided to build a castle called “Castle of Pirou”. It consisted of large very thick walls surrounded by a huge ditch filled with water. The evening, when everyone had returned, the drawbridge was pulled up, so everyone was safe from the pirates. The Lord, his family, his servants and his guards lived a long time in peace until one day new Invaders arrived on an unknown form of boats. These warriors, the Vikings came from poor countries where it was very cold. They were very brave but also very violent and not only did they steal, but also wanted to conquer this very rich country and fight against the inhabitants. The only place which resisted was the Pirou castle that was impregnable. These warriors decided to circle and also to starve the inhabitants. After a few weeks the food was missing and the lord made an important decision : he needed a solution to leave the castle without attracting the attention of the evil warriors. The lord asked everyone in the castle, his family, his household and his bodyguards to meet in the large guardroom. He climbed to the attic and descended with a conjuring book which was covered with dust. In the book were written magic spells allowing the inhabitants to transform themselves into animals. The lord said one of these spells, then all repeated it aloud and they were transformed into geese. One night they flew away from the castle without being discovered by the evil warriors. Although there was no noise in the castle, the warriors waited before entering. Once inside, they only found a very old sick man who told them how people could escape transformed into geese. Why did he not leave? Simply because he

was deaf and did not understand the magic spell to repeat, so he kept his human form. Sometime after, the geese returned to the castle to find the sentence in the old book allowing them to become men. Sadly, in revenge, the evil warriors had lit a fire in the castle and the old book was burned. The geese, very disappointed, left to cold countries where houses and fields are always white and covered with snow. There they met an old man with a white beard: Father Christmas. He asked the geese where did they come from? He told them he didn’t know very much about that place and asked them to guide him to bring toys to children because Santa Claus had not given him his GPS. The geese were overjoyed to help Santa Claus. They flew before him and watched through the windows if children slept well because Santa Claus did not want to be seen when he placed the gifts in the shoes. Therefore, my child, you must go to sleep and shut your eyes because geese will soon pass. The child replied : - Yes Papy. You will also sleep; Santa Claus comes also for the old people who have been kind. One day, will you take me to see the castle?
