Requirements Level 1 Skills • To have the necessary knowledge up to Level 2 to be able to teach the mathematics programme in elementary school • To acquire appropriate mathematical equipment • To analyse pedagogical documents: textbook pages, teachers’ guides… • To analyse pupils’ work : identify procedures, notice mistakes, analyse them and suggest remedial measures • To construct learning sequences, taking into account the development of didactics in mathematics and current pedagogical approaches Programme content • Classification of addition and multiplication situations • Spatial geometry: - demands of official texts: to reproduce, describe, represent, construct – study of solids (prisms, pyramids, cones…) • Number and ratio functions, proportional series, proportional coefficients, linear properties linear and affine functions – scale, speed. Methodology • Alternating individual, small and large working groups • Theory • Working out activities linked to course content • Solving mathematical problems as preparation of Paper one of competitive exam • Critical analysis of textbook pages, didactic approaches and corresponding procedures • Analysis of pupils’ work : procedures, mistakes, offers of help.
