TT

An icon reimagined. The Audi TT. When the first TT entered production in 1999, it immediately acquired the ranking of a design gem in the Bauhaus style – purist, minimalist, timeless. The second TT generation maintained this design code with stronger geometric elements. The third generation echoes many aspects of the classic, but with a more muscular, athletic exterior. It’s truly the pinnacle of what the TT has achieved over its lifetime. Use the slider below to see the progression in TT design.

Une icône redessinée. L’Audi TT. From the self-confidence of Don Juan’s opening flourish, tender wooing melodies and final pizzicato thuds of his demise, through to the © Fred Cattroll

initial, laboured breaths, passionate reminiscence and final ecstatic transfiguration of Death and Transfiguration, Richard Strauss miraculously articulates both life and death in tonight’s two glorious and virtuosic tone poems. They are paired with Mozart’s brooding D-minor Concerto — a key with dark associations for the composer — and Ana Sokolović’s playful Ringelspiel, her first commission as NAC Award Composer. I am particularly delighted that the fascinating Venezuelan soloist Gabriela Montero will be bringing her extraordinary gift for improvisation to Southam Hall.
