TEAM A 1. At the age of 13, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi married Kasturba Makhanji who gave him four sons. 2. In 1888 he joined the Vegetarian Society. 3. Contrary to his wishes to become a doctor, Gandhi completed his studies to become a barrister. 4. Because the Indians’ right to vote in South Africa was threatened, Gandhi travelled to Natal. 5. Gandhi’s life and principles were based upon non-violence and abstinence. 6. The term satyagraha refers to devotion to the truth. 7. Because lots of villagers were extremely poor, Gandhi created ashrams outside the cities. 8. In 1930 together with thousands of Indians, he marched to Dandi to protest against the British domination. TEAM B 1. Gandhi’s birth place was located in India in Porbandar. 2. In 1888 he joined the Vegetarian Society. 3. Between 1899 and 1902 he participated in the Second Boer War. 4. Discrimination against women and the Untouchables was his life stuggle. 5. Repeatedly in his life Gandhi was imprisoned. 6. One of his nicknames was Bapu, meaning “father”. 7. South Africa General Jan Christiaan Smuts had to negotiate with Gandhi. 8. “Mahatma” means great soul.
