Preliminary Announcement Paris, January 2008
To all Colleagues and Students of Chemistry in Vietnam and Overseas
Subject: Chemistry & Chemical Technology Conference by Vietnamese ExpatriatesParis 2008
Dear Colleagues and Students,
Following a brain storming period and concrete project conceptualization, The Young Vietnamese Chemist Group, in collaboration with the Vietnamese Student Organization and many other Vietnamese Chemists in Europe, is pleased to announce that it will assume the responsibility for organizing the “Overseas Vietnamese Chemistry & Chemical Technology Conference”.
Objective: The conference will serve as a medium for meeting, networking, and exchanging experience among overseas Vietnamese chemists as well as those from Vietnam, on selected topics addressing new developments or new directions in Chemistry. The conference will also foster long term interaction between established Vietnamese scientists in western nations with the younger generation so they could together contribute to the development of chemical science in Vietnam. The conference will be organized in Paris during the month of October or November, 2008. The exact conference site and dates will be communicated in future updates. Conference format & programs (projected over 2 days) Ø The first day will be reserved for plenary lectures on new technology developments in Chemistry by respective experts. Lectures on the development of Chemistry in Vietnam (expected to be delivered by invited scientists from Vietnam) will also be included. The day will also feature discussion groups by young chemists involved in research, where each could discuss/share their prospects and aspirations (oral presentations to be selected by the Organizing Committee). Ø The second day will be a continuation emphasizing technical presentations by young chemists on selected topics in Chemistry and Chemical Technology. The presentations will be followed by 2-hour break-out sessions to be participated by all within their realm of expertise. Conclusion of the day will consist of 1-hour presentation by the leaders of the break-out sessions summarizing key points of discussions and potential future plan of action. All key topics will be selected in advance by the Organizing Committee.
Ø Poster sessions addressing the selected topics will be conducted in parallel, and time will be reserved for all to view the posters. The best oral and poster presentations by young chemists will be announced and winning prizes will be presented accordingly. We are writing this preliminary announcement to all, hoping for additional conceptual contributions as well as support and promotion of the conference in Paris, 2008. The Organizing Committee has received many letters of support from overseas Vietnamese scientists and a listing is provided below. Regular updates will feature in the following web site: http://hoithaohoahoc2008.free.fr The Organizing Committee is also counting on you to communicate this announcement to all Vietnamese colleagues and students of Chemistry.
Happy 2008 to All !
