The NMR platform (Clermont-Fd, http://www.clermont.inra.fr/Outils-et-Ressources/Les-plates-formes/Plate-forme-RMNRMSB/%28key%29/3) of the French National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA, http://www.inra.fr/en) is looking for high-level candidates who wish to apply for the post of full-time INRA research engineer specialized in NMR methods development. The engineer will be part of the INRA Science and Process Engineering of Agricultural Products Division, (http://www.cepia.inra.fr/en). The platform is equipped with three high magnetic field spectrometers for performing experiments in MR imaging and spectroscopy; two horizontal systems running at 4.7T and 11.7T and a 9.4T vertical wide-bore magnet. It also benefits from privileged access to a 3T whole body MRI scanner at the university hospital of Clermont-Ferrand. The platform unit has acknowledged expertise in developing methodologies for quantitative MRS and MRI. The INRA unit brings together scientists able to use the full potential of these NMR methods, making it one of the leading European research units working in the fields of food quality and nutrition. By joining this platform, you will benefit from leading edge equipment and varied collaborations through participation in French and European research projects, and through the provision of services. Thus you will work with NMR specialists and with researchers working in different scientific themes (e.g., food science, nutrition, neuroscience and health). We now wish to strengthen our capabilities to ensure methodological developments, especially in MRS (ultrafast 2D, localized). Furthermore, the platform has to satisfy demands for services from the scientific and industrial community and propose relevant NMR solutions for studying various biological systems. We are looking for brilliant candidates who fulfill the following criteria: - PhD including significant NMR aspects, - A high level of expertise in NMR methods development, including a strong theoretical background, experience with pulse programming and data processing, - A number of publications in peer-reviewed journals, - Interest in the quantitative and analytical applications of magnetic resonance, - Strong written and oral communication skills. Moreover, experience in one (or more) of the following domains would be highly appreciated: - Signal processing, - Quantitative NMR, - Multidimensional NMR, - Spatial-encoding, - Hyperpolarization. By joining the NMR platform at the Clermont-Fd/Theix/Lyon INRA center which gathers nearly 800 people (scientists and students), you will benefit from our recent investment in NMR hardware. You will also enjoy the excellent collaborative atmosphere within the center, the INRA division and the entire University. Finally, you will appreciate the work environment located within one of the oldest and largest regional parks in Europe (http://www.auvergnetourism.com/regional-nature-parks/the-auvergne-volcanoes-park-279-2.html) and close to an urban area renowned for its quality of life.
