SimDef 2014 : Military Simulation Symposium in Eurosatory 2014 Every year, the French Joint Staff (EMA) and DGA (MoD Procurement Agency) jointly organize a symposium on Defense Simulation. This symposium is supported by the ADIS Group* and targets DoD and military personnel, as well as simulation experts from all horizons. For the second time, SimDef will leverage the opportunity of the International Eurosatory exhibition, from 16 to 20 June 2014 in Paris Nord Villepinte, to expand its audience and welcome international attendees. For armed forces professionals, executives and industry leaders, SimDef 2014 is a unique opportunity to enrich their Eurosatory experience with the discovery of modern uses of simulation. SimDef 2014 aims at highlighting the operational benefits of simulation for armed forces. This year’s theme is : « Mission ready » SimDef 2014 will offer the following operational issues : • Preparing for engagement in a digitized force. • Preparing for engagement with a native function embedded in the weapon system. • Preparing for engagement from its garrison and with networking. • Engaging in an emergency. • Understanding the complexity of threats and environment. • Coordinating the third dimension and aerospace activities. On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the French army aviation (ALAT), an issue is dedicated to : • The simulation in support of Army Aviation Participation is free of charge and open to all Eurosatory visitors. On-site French/English translation services will be provided.

The simulation acts as a leverage in the use of learning, decision support, qualification and capitalization systems. Simulation multiplies the effect of assigned resources to achieve the operational objective Simulation generates important savings in different dimensions: cost, human resources and time. Simulation optimizes the use of real equipment and surrounding assets. It also allows activities such as exercises that cannot be performed in the real world. In France, DGA is the reference authority for the supervision of simulation programmes, from the requirements established by the armed forces. *The ADIS Group is a French organization gathering EMA, DGA and the Defense Industry in order to promote, explain and facilitate the use of simulation for the benefit of the French Defense Community.
