Using the Digital Camera

Your Smartphone features a build-in CMOS camera. You can take photos or record videos and then directly view these photos or videos on your Smartphone. What’s more, you can immediately share with others your photos and videos through the mobile network service. 1.1 PhoneCamera The PhoneCamera program is your tool for taking photos or recording videos on your Smartphone.

Taking Photos

If you want to save your photos in a storage card, insert the card.

2.

On the Home screen, press the Programs soft key, select PhoneCamera, and then press the Action button to open PhoneCamera.

By default, the camera is in the Take Photo mode. If you are currently in the Record Video mode, press the Menu soft key, select Take Photo, and then press the Action button to change the mode.

4.

Frame your target in the viewing window. You can rotate your Smartphone if necessary.

5.

To adjust the brightness of the image or zoom in/out: •

Press the Up/Down key to adjust the image’s brightness (0 ~ 100). A sliding bar will appear at the bottom of the screen to indicate the adjustable range.



Press the Left/Right key to adjust the image’s size (100% ~ 200%). A sliding bar will appear at the bottom of the screen to indicate the adjustable range.

When you are ready to take the photo, press the Action button.

The left soft key on the screen will display Save, press the left soft key or the Action button to save the photo. If you do not respond in five seconds, the program will automatically save it. The photo is stored in the storage card if you have specified it as the storage location; or, the photo will be saved in the \IPSM\My Documents\PhotoAlbum folder of your Smartphone.

To view the saved photo, press the Viewer soft key to open PhoneViwer. (For details on PhoneViwer, see section 1.2.)

_ N O T E ` The sliding bar will disappear after three seconds of inactivity. After shooting, you can press the Cancel soft key in 5 seconds to abort. When taking photos, you can use the Timer function to avoid a blurred image. (For more information, see “PhoneCamera Settings” later in this chapter.)

Recording Videos 1.

If you want to save your videos in a storage card, insert the card

By default, the camera is in the Take Photo mode. Press the Menu soft key, select Record Video, and then press the Action button to change the mode.

The video is stored in the storage card if you have specified it as the storage location; or, the video will be saved in the \IPSM\My Documents\MovieAlbum folder of your Smartphone.

To watch the saved video, press the Player soft to open VideoPlayer. (For details on VideoPlayer, see section 1.3.) _ N O T E ` The sliding bar will disappear after three seconds of inactivity. When saving the video in your Smartphone, the maximum recording time allowed is 15 seconds; when saving in a storage card, you can keep on recording until the card runs out of space. After recording, you can press the Cancel soft key in 5 seconds to abort.

PhoneCamera Settings To configure PhoneCamera, on the PhoneCamera main screen, press the Menu soft key, select Settings. PhoneCamera Settings

Description

Timer

To set the time lag between releasing the shutter and shooting the photo. This is helpful for avoiding blurring caused by vibration of your Smartphone when you press a button. Press the Left/Right key to select an option in the range of 0~10 seconds (default is 0). For example, if you set the timer to 3 seconds, when you press the button to shoot, the timer will start to count down and you should keep the Smartphone steady until the time is up and the photo is shot.

Resolution

To set the resolution of the image. Press the Left/Right key to select. The options are 320x240 and 176x144 (default) pixels.

Storage Media

To select the storage location for the photos and videos. Press the Left/Right key to select Flash ROM (Smartphone’s memory) or SDMMC Disk (if a storage card is inserted). Note: If you want to save the files in a storage card, the card must be inserted first and the option set as SDMMC Disk.

Contrast

To adjust the contrast of the image. Press the Left/Right key to adjust. The values range from 0 to 100 (default is 50).

Brightness

To adjust the brightness of the image. Press the Left/Right key to adjust. The values range from 0 to 100 (default is 50).

Flicker Control

When you use the camera indoors, you can select 50Hz or 60Hz to match the flicker frequency of the fluorescent lamp.

When completed, press the Done soft key to save your changes.

Notes on Using PhoneCamera To PhoneCamera, your Smartphone must have enough memory. If the memory is inefficient, a warning message will appear on the screen. To solve the problem, you can free the memory by: •

Deleting files you no longer need



Stopping all other programs (as described in section 4.2).



Resetting the Smartphone.

While in PhoneCamera, you cannot use the Smartphone’s Record button. If you press the Volume Control button while in PhoneCamera, the program will be closed.

1.2 PhoneViewer The PhoneViewer program allows you to view pictures in JPEG and BMP formats, display a slideshow of all the pictures, and edit the pictures.

On the Home screen, press the Programs soft key, select PhoneViewer, and then press the Action button to open the PhoneViewer. _ N O T E ` While in PhoneCamera, you can press the Viewer soft key to open PhoneViewer.

PhoneViewer will search the photos stored in the storage card and the Smartphone (JPG and BMP format). By default, if a storage card is inserted, the program will display the photos in the card; otherwise, it will display the photos in the IPSM\My Documents folder and its subfolders of your Smartphone. One screen displays a total of four thumbnails. Each thumbnail is labeled a number at the left-top corner and the filename at the bottom.

To view a photo in full screen, you can press the labeled number of the photo. Or, you can press the navigation pad to select the photo and press the Action button.

Full Screen View You can open a photo in the thumbnail view. Press the labeled number of the photo, or press the navigation pad to select and then press the Action button. After opening a photo in full screen, you can: Press the Up/Down key to switch to another photo on the same page. Press the Left/Right key to zoom in or out on the photo (25% ~ 200%). Press the Back soft key to return to the thumbnail view. Press the Menu soft key to access the command options such as add notes, themes, and etc. (See instructions later on in this section.)

Adding Notes to a Photo After opening a photo, you can add a text and/or voice notes to it.

1.

Press the Menu soft key, select Memo, and then press the Action button.

2.

To add a text note, type the text in the text field at bottom of the screen. You can type for up to 100 characters. Or, you can press the Action button to change to full screen mode and type or read the text. Press the Done soft key to save the text and return to the previous screen.

To add a voice note, press the Menu soft key, select Record to start recording voice. Press the Stop soft key or the Action button to stop. You can add only one voice recording to a photo, meaning a second recording will replace the old one.

For your Smartphone to play the voice note automatically when you open the photo next time, in the thumbnail view, press the Menu soft key, select Settings, check the Play audio option, and then press OK soft key.

When you select Memo in the Menu options next time, you will see the text note. To play the recording, press the Menu soft key and select Play. _ N O T E ` To delete the text note of a selected photo, erase all characters in the text input field with the Back button. To delete the voice note of a selected photo, press the Menu soft key and select Delete.

After adding the text and/or voice notes, press the OK soft key. In the thumbnail view, you will see icons to the left of the photo.

Adding a Theme to a Photo You can add a them to your photo and make it fancier. PhoneViewer provides eight themes for you to select.

In full screen view or thumbnail view, press the Menu soft key and select Add Theme.

Press the navigation pad to select a theme. You can select from two pages of themes.

After your selection, press the Select soft key or the Action button.

You can change the photo’s orientation and size with the following methods:

Press the Up button to rotate the photo counterclockwise in 90 degrees.



Press the Down button to rotate the photo clockwise in 90 degrees.



Press the Left button to zoom out.



Press the Right button to zoom in.

After your adjustments, press the Action button or Done soft key. The photo with a theme will be saved as a new photo in the album.

Slide Show You can display a slideshow of your photos.

1.

Open PhoneViewer. If you want to specify he location of the photos, press the Menu soft and select Select Folder.

2.

To change the default settings of slide show, press the Menu soft key, select Settings, and then press the Action button. You can customize the following options. When completed, press the OK soft key. •

Time setting sets the interval between displaying one phone and the next one. The options range from 1 to 9 seconds (default is 2).



Slide show view is Best Fit (default) or Full Screen.



Slide show sequence is Forward (default) or Backward.



Play audio sets if the voice notes (if added to the photos) are played during the slideshow.

To start the slide show, press the Menu soft key and select Slide show.

4.

All photos will be displayed one after another in the way as specified above until you press the OK soft key to stop.

You can use this command when you zoom in on the photo. Press the navigation pad to move the photo. When the photo is in the place you want, press the Action button to disable the function.



Fullscreen

Displays the photo in full screen.



Wallpaper

Sets the current photo as wallpaper of the Home screen.

Closes the program.

1.3 VideoPlayer VideoPlayer allows you to play the videos you have recorded using PhoneCamera.

To play a video, you can press the labeled number of the video. Or, you can press the navigation pad to select and then press the Action button to watch the video in full screen.

Full Screen View You can open a video in the thumbnail view. Press the labeled number of the video, or press the navigation pad to select the video and then press the Action button. During the playback, the progress bar appears at the bottom of the screen to indicate the elapsed time (mm:ss). Press the Action button to pause, and press the button again to resume. After opening a video, you can press the Menu soft key to control the playback such as pause, stop, or delete (as described later). Press the Back soft key to return to the thumbnail view.

jBrowser: Browsing WAP

This chapter tells you how to use the jBrowser program to browse WAP pages. This chapter includes:

2.1 jBrowser Overview jBrowser is the tool for browsing WAP pages on your Smartphone. WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) is specially designed for mobile phones. WAP pages are provided and maintained by WAP service providers. You can obtain a variety of information from the WAP pages, including banking, news, weather report, flight schedules, and more. jBrowser supports: Various content types, including WBXML, WML1.3, WML2.0, XHTML mobile profile, cHTML and vCard / vCal. Various image formats, including GIF (without animation), PNG, TIFF, BMP and WBMP. WAP Push messages that serve as alert messages to the user. _ N O T E ` You may need to apply to the GPRS and WAP service with your service provider and set your Smartphone accordingly. Follow your service provider’s instructions to finish the connection settings. When in jBrowser, you can get help information by selecting Help from the Menu options.

2.2 Configuring the Connection Settings When you apply to GPRS and WAP services, your service provider may have set the connections settings for your. You can refer to the following procedure to make sure that the settings are correct.

1.

On the Home screen, press the Programs soft key, select jBrowser, and then press the Action button to open jBrowser.

2.

On the jBrowser main screen, press the Menu soft key, select Options, then Settings, and then press the Action button.

3.

Press the Menu soft key, select Edit Profile, and then press the Action button.

4.

Make sure that the settings are correct.

5.

Press the Done soft key.

2.3 Browsing WAP Pages After the required settings have been configured correctly, you can browse WAP pages following this procedure:

On the Home screen, press the Programs soft key, select jBrowser, and then press the Action button to open jBrowser.

To browse the WAP pages, you can use one of the following methods:

Press the Menu soft key, select Go to, enter the URL address, and then press the Done soft key.



Press the Favorites soft key, select a WAP page and press the Action button.



Press the Menu soft key, select Home and press the Action button.



Press the Menu soft key, select View, then History, select a WAP page, press Go To, and then press the Action button.

When finished, press the Menu soft key, select Exit, and then press the Action button.

2.4 WAP Favorites If you browse a page that you’d like to visit again, you can add it to Favorites. Then, whenever you want to visit the later on, you can conveniently select it from Favorites.

Adding WAP Pages to Favorites 1.

Go to the WAP page you want. Press the Menu soft key and select Add to Favorite.

2.

If this is the first time you add a WAP page to Favorites, a message will appear on the screen asking you to enter the category name. Press the OK soft key; enter the category name, and then press the Done soft key.

3.

Enter the WAP page’s name and http:// information, select a category, and then press the Done soft key.

Viewing WAP Favorites 1.

After opening jBrowser, press the Favorite soft key. You can also press the Menu soft key, select View, then Favorites, and then press the Action button.

Select a category and press the Open soft key. By default, the Favorites list is displayed by names. You can change the display type by selecting View by URL from the Menu options.

Select the WAP page you want, and press the Go To soft key or Action button.

Managing WAP Favorites In the Favorites page, you can add, rename or delete the category of Favorites or WAP pages using the Menu options.

2.5 jBrowser History Log When you press the Menu soft key, select View, then History, and then press the Action button to view the history log, you will see the title of the WAP pages you browsed recently. Or, you can press the Menu soft key and select View by URL to change the display type of the list. To open a WAP page, select and then press the Go soft key or Action button. To clear the history log, press the Menu soft key, select Clear History, and then press the Action button.

2.6 jBrowser Options To configure jBrowser options, on the jBrowser main screen, press the Menu soft key and select Options.

JBrowser Settings On the jBrowser main screen, press the Menu soft key, select Options, then Settings, and then press the Action button. You can select the connection type and configure the connection settings. (See section 2.2.) In addition, you can choose to load the homepage when jBrowser is opened and to browser in an off-line state.

Cached WAP Pages The Smartphone caches WAP pages as they are downloaded to your Smartphone and stores them on your Smartphone until the cache is full. If you go to a page that is already stored on your Smartphone, you will see the stored version when you select the page. To browse the latest contents of the page, press the Menu soft key and select Refresh. By default, this function is enabled. To change the setting, on the WAP jBrowser main screen, press the Menu soft key, select Options, then Cache & Cookie, and then press the Action button. The Enable Cache option is checked or unchecked to enable or disable the cache function. You can also change the size of the cache.

Using Cookies When you browse WAP pages, the status will be saved as a text file on your Smartphone, which is called “cookie”. This is helpful to customize the contents of the WAP pages when you browse it next time. On the jBrowser main screen, press the Menu soft key, select Options, then Cache & Cookie, and then press the Action button. Check the Enable Cookie option to enable the function.

Using Push Messages Push messages are sent without waiting for a request from the device. Push functionality is especially relevant to real time applications that send notifications to their users, such as messaging, stock price and traffic update alerts. Enabling push messages can avoid inefficient and wasteful use of resources of wireless networks. On the jBrowser main screen, press the Menu soft key, select Options, then Push, and then press the Action button to configure the following settings: To enable unconfirmed Push, check the WAP Unconfirmed Push option. To enable confirmed Push, check the WAP Confirmed Push option, and then enter the appropriate information for the Gateway and Port options. To enable HTTP push, check the HTTP - Push option, and then enter the appropriate information for the Port option.

Viewing Push Messages To view Push messages, press the Menu soft key, select View, then Push Message, and then press the Action button. You can press the Menu soft key, select View Archive, and then scroll to Push – Archive.

jMMS: MMS Messages

3.1 jMMS Overview You can use the jMMS program to send and receive MMS (Multimedia Message Service) messages. MMS technology combines audio and image contents and can be send instantly via GPRS wireless network. jMMS has been built over WAP and 3GPP specifications and is interoperable with the existing MMSC.

_ N O T E ` You need to apply to the GPRS and MMS services with your service provider before you can send and receive MMS messages. Follow your service provider’s instructions to finish the connection settings. Depending on the service that you apply to, you may not be able to send and receive MMS messages to users using a different mobile phone network. Check with your service provider for the size limit of one MMS message.

3.2 MMS Settings MMS Connection Settings When you apply to the GPRS and MMS services, your service provider may have set the connection settings for you. You can refer to the following procedure to make sure that the settings are correct.

1.

On the Home screen, press the Programs soft key, select jMMS, and then press the Action button to open jMMS.

2.

Select Settings on the jMMS main screen and press the Action button.

3.

Select Profile and press the Action button.

4.

Press the Profile soft key, select Edit, and then press the Action button.

5.

Make sure that the settings are correct.

6.

Press the Apply soft key.

7.

Press the Done soft key.

MMS Configuration You can set up the conditions for downloading MMS messages, such as the size limit or class of the messages.

1.

On the Home screen, press the Programs soft key, select jMMS, and then press the Action button to open jMMS.

2.

Select Settings on the jMMS main screen, and press the Action button.

Select Configuration and press the Action button.

Select one of the following under Download Message:

Manual allows you to manually download new messages.



Automatic automatically downloads new messages.



Custom downloads new messages according to the conditions as defined by the next step.

If you select Custom, you can set up the following items for downloading MMS messages: •

Message Size sets the size limit of a message. The program will only download messages with the size smaller than your setting.



Message Class sets the class of the messages for download.

Press the Save soft key to save your changes.

3.3 Sending MMS Messages Using jMMS, you can send text, images and audio files as messages. You can send multimedia messages that include image and text, audio and text, or all three (image, audio and text).

Sending an Image MMS 1.

jMMS provides several image templates for you to use. If you want to use your own image file (jpg format), copy the file to the \IPSM\My Documents\PhotoAlbum folder of the Smartphone.

2.

On the Home screen, press the Programs soft key, select jMMS, and then press the Action button to open jMMS.

3.

Press the Down key to select Send Image on the main screen, and press the Action button.

4.

Press the navigation pad to select an image from the templates. Press the Menu soft key and select More to view other templates. After your selection, press the Select soft key or the Action button for confirmation.

5.

You can immediately take a photo to be your image. Press the Camera soft key, and then press the Shutter soft key or the Action button to take a photo. Then press the Save soft key or the Action button. The new photo will appear on the screen.

6.

To enter the text messages, press the Action button. You can also press the Menu soft key, select Add Text, and then press the Action button.

7.

Before sending the message, you can preview your message by selecting Preview from Menu. Press the Close soft key to return to the previous screen.

Press the Send soft key.

Under To, enter a mobile phone number or an email address. If you want to select one from the Contacts list, press the Menu soft key, select Address Mode, then Phone Book, select a contact’s phone number or email address, and then press the Insert soft key or the Action button.

Sending an Audio MMS 1.

jMMS provides several audio templates for you to use. If you want to use your own audio file, copy the file to the \IPSM\Application Data\Sounds folder of the Smartphone. The supported formats include iMelody (.imy), MIDI (.mid), Wave (.wav) and AMR (.amr).

On the Home screen, press the Programs soft key, select jMMS, and then press the Action button to open jMMS.

3.

Press the Down key to select Send Tune on the main screen, and press the Action button.

4.

Press the navigation pad to select an audio file from the templates. Press the Menu soft key and select More to view other templates. After the selection, press the Select soft key or the Action button for confirmation.

You can immediately record to be your audio file. Press the Record soft key to start recording, and the Stop soft key to stop the recording. Then press the Menu soft key and select Back to return to the Send Tune screen. Press the Menu soft key and select More to select a rec0x.amr file (x indicating a number).

Sending a Compound MMS A compound MMS message contains image, audio, and text files.

Press the Down key to select Compose on the main screen, and press the Action button.

Each page can contain one image file, one audio file and one text message. To add more items, press the Down key to select the Add Page icon. Press the Select soft key or the Action button, and then select Add Page.

Menu Options for Sending Messages After the MMS message is completed and you press the Send soft key, you can then press the Menu soft key to access the following command options: Menu Option

Sets the class of the message, including: Priority can be Low, Normal or High. Message Class can be Personal, Advertisement, Informational or Automatic. Expiry sets the time limit for reserving the message in the Smartphone. The options are Maximum, 12 hours, 1 day, 1 Week and 1 Month. You can also check the following four items (the default is unchecked): Use as Default accepts the settings of Priority, Class and Expiry as the default settings for all MMS messages. Delivery Report displays the notice when the message has been received. Read Reply Report displays the notice when the message has been read. Hide Sender Address allows you to hide your address. After the settings have been completed, press the Apply soft key.

Profile

Configures the connection settings. (See section 3.2.)

Address Mode

The options are: Phone Book displays the Contacts list for you to select from. You can press the Options soft key and select Phone or Email to change the displayed data. Phone Number changes to the number input mode for you to enter a phone number. Email ID changes to the text input mode for you to enter an email address.

3.4 Receiving MMS Messages When you receive a MMS message, jMMS notifies you and list the message in Inbox of jMMS.

1.

On the Home screen Press the Programs soft key, select jMMS, and then press the Action button to open jMMS.

2.

Select Inbox and press the Action button.

Indicates read message. Indicates unread message.

3.

Select the message you want to read from the Inbox list, and press the View soft key or the Action button to open it. It may take a few seconds for the message to be downloaded to your Smartphone for the first time reading.

4.

After the message is opened, the program will automatically turn the pages if there is more than one page. You can use the Menu options to forward or save the messages (as described in the following table.)

5.

Press the Close soft key to return to the Inbox list.

Move To Folder

To create a new folder: Select New Folder from Menu, enter the name for the folder, and press the Save soft key to create a new folder. To move the message to another folder: Select a message. Select Move to Folder from Menu, change to the target folder, and press the Action button. To delete a folder: Move the cursor to the folder that you want to delete. Press the Menu soft key, select Delete, and press the Action button.

4.1 Installing Utility Programs Some of the files and programs have been preinstalled in your Smartphone, including: MIDI files (for ring tones) Mio program list TaskManager MetalStrike 1 The programs that are not installed are: PhoneReader PhoneExplorer PhoneCity PhoneBackup MetalStrike 2 Use the Software CD to install a program. The installation procedure is as follows:

1.

Connect the Smartphone to your desktop computer.

2.

Insert the Software CD into the CD-ROM drive of the desktop computer.

3.

The installation program on the CD will start automatically.

4.

Select the desired language for the display.

5.

Depending on your needs, select Normal, All, or Customize. If you select Customize, check the programs you want to install.

6.

The installation progress will be displayed on the screen. Follow the on-screen instructions to finish the installation. _ N O T E ` The installation needs some temporary storage space. If there is a problem of insufficient memory, stop all the other programs, or reset the Smartphone.

4.2 TaskManager The TaskManager program is used to monitor the status of the memory usage of the programs installed in ROM of your Smartphone and also allows you to stop the program(s). When you turn on the Smartphone and open the programs installed in ROM, all these programs reside in the background, taking up RAM space, even when you have exited and switched to another program. Usually, your Smartphone will automatically allocate the memory. In case insufficient memory problem occurs, you can use TaskManager to stop the program(s) for releasing some memory space. Follow this procedure:

1.

On the Home screen, press the Programs soft key, select TaskMan, and press the Action button.

2.

The list of the opened programs will be displayed on the screen. Press the Up/Down key to select the program that you want to stop. Then press the Stop soft key.

3.

Press the Hide soft key to exit and return to the previous screen. The TaskManager program will still monitor in the background. _ N O T E ` TaskManager monitors the programs in ROM (such as Microsoft Smartphone 2002 core programs, MySIM, PhoneCamera, jMMS, and jBrowser). It does not monitor programs installed by you (such as PhoneReader and PhoneExplorer).

4.3 PhoneReader PhoneReader allows you to read books (in txt, html, pdb and prc formats) on your Smartphone. It features bookmarks, favorites and auto sliding. You can download files to your desktop computer or purchase electronic books. Then, use ActiveSync to copy the files to the \IPSM\My Documents of your Smartphone or to a storage card.

Opening and Exiting PhoneReader After installing PhoneReader, on the Home screen, press the Programs soft key, select PhoneReader and press the Action button to open PhoneReader. To exit PhoneReader, press the Menu soft key, select Exit and press the Action button.

Book Folders and Book Lists Book folders Book list

When you open PhoneReader, you will see on the top line of the main screen four book folders. They are: Recent contains the documents you recently read. My Documents contains documents of all supported formats in the \IPSM\My Documents folder. SDMMC contains documents of all supported formats in the storage card. Favorites contains documents you have added to the Favorites. In the center of the screen is the book list of the selected book folder. Each book is labeled with a number, icon and filename. When you see More on the screen, select More to scroll to the next page of the book list.

Reading a Book To read a book after opening PhoneReader, press the Left/Right button to select the desired book folder, and press the number of the desired document in the book list or press the Up/Down key to select and then the Action button or Read soft key.

After opening a book, you can: Press the Up or Down key to move up or down one line. Press the Right or Left key to scroll to the previous or next page. Press Menu soft key, select Goto to quickly reach a specific page. Enter the number in the input field and press the Done soft or Action button to go to the page. Press the Menu soft key and select Full screen to read the book in full screen. Press the Action key to end the full screen reading. Press the Slide soft key to allow PhoneReader to turn the pages automatically according to the slide settings. (You can adjust the time interval between page turning. For details, see the instructions later on.) To stop the sliding, press Stop soft key. Use the options available in the Menu. (See later instructions.)

Using Bookmarks When a document is open, you can press the Menu soft key and select Set bookmark to set a bookmark so you can conveniently jump to a specific page later on. Only one bookmark is accepted by one document; that is, a newly set bookmark will replace the old one. When you open the same document next time, you can press the Menu soft key and select Goto bookmark to quickly reach the page with the bookmark.

PhoneReader Favorites PhoneReader provides a Favorites folder for you to store your favorite books. When the desired document is open, press the Menu soft key and select Add to Favorites to include the document in your Favorites folder.

PhoneReader Settings Press the Menu soft key and select Settings to access options as described below: PhoneReader Settings

Sets the time interval for the sliding feature. Available options are between 1 to 60 seconds (default is 5).

Remember last position

Sets if PhoneReader will save the progress of your reading so that when you open the same document next time, you will be lead to the page where you were when you last left.

After your settings, press the Done soft key to save the changes.

4.4 PhoneExplorer PhoneExplorer allows you to explore and manage the folders and files in your Smartphone. You can add new folders, cut, copy, paste, rename and delete folder/files.

Opening PhoneExplorer After installing PhoneExplorer, on the Home screen, press the Programs soft key, select PhoneExplorer, and press the Action button to open PhoneExplorer.

Displayed on the screen is the root directory of your Smartphone. To select a file or folder, press the Up/Down key. Press the Action button to open the selected file or folder. To go up one level, press the Back button or select the icon

and press the Action key.

Go up one level.

PhoneExplorer displays the folder names, filenames, extension names and file sizes.

Browsing and Finding Files After opening PhoneExplorer, you can use one of the following methods to find a file: Use the navigation pad. •

Use number keys. You can enter the beginning letters of the filename to search the matching file in the current folder. As you start typing a few letters and pause, the highlight will be moved to the matching files.

Displays the file properties such as type, location and size.

_ C A U T I O N ` Be careful when you delete files. Accidentally deleting essential program files can cause your Smartphone to malfunction.

4.5 PhoneCity PhoneCity gives you a glance of the current time in five different cities. After installing PhoneCity, on the Home screen, press the Programs soft key, select PhoneCity, and then press the Action button to open PhoneCity. Five standard-style clocks appear on the screen, with the biggest one numbered 1 showing the time of the main city. The remaining four clocks numbered 2 to 5 show the time of the other cities. You can press a number key to adjust the time of the corresponding city. When you change the time of a city, the time of the other cities will automatically change, too.

_ N O T E ` You can press the Left/Right key change the color of the clock hands. To exit the program, press the left soft key (not displayed on the screen).

Changing the Clock Style PhoneCity provides three different styles for you to select. In addition to the default “Standard” style, there are “Fashion” and “Digital” styles. Press the right soft to select a style.

Selecting Cities You can select your own 5 cities to be displayed on the screen from a list of 472 cities.

Adjusting the Time 1.

Open PhoneCity. On the main screen, press the Menu soft key (not displayed on the screen), select Set Time and press the Action button.

Synchronizing GMT To keep accurate time on your Pocket PC, you can connect to a time server for synchronizing the Greenwich Mean Time of your Smartphone. PhoneCity allows you to connect to one of 19 default time servers.

1.

Connect your Pocket PC to the Internet.

2.

Open PhoneCity. Press the Menu soft key (not displayed on the screen), select Online Time and press the Action button.

Press the Adjust now soft key to synchronize the time.

Press the OK soft key to return to the previous screen. _ N O T E ` When you open the timer server list, you have the chance to add a new time server. To do so, press the Menu soft key, select Add and enter the server name in the box, then press the Done soft key.

4.6 PhoneBackup PhoneBackup allows you to back up the Outlook data or other data in your Smartphone to another storage and then restore them. After installing PhoneBackup, on the Home screen, press the Programs soft key, select PhoneBackup and press the Action button to open PhoneBackup.

Backing Up _ N O T E ` When using a storage card, make sure that the card has enough space for storing your date. Do not turn off or remove the storage card during the process of backup. When the battery power is low, do not use the program. Otherwise, you might lose your data.

If your Smartphone is connected to a desktop computer, disconnect it.

2.

Close and stop all running programs.

3.

If you are backing up your data to a storage card, insert the card.

4.

On the Home screen, press the Programs soft key, select PhoneBackup and then press the Action button to open PhoneBackup.

5.

If you are backing up your data to a storage card, press the Storage soft key and select SD/MMC. Otherwise, the program will back up the data to the memory of your Smartphone.

6.

Select Backup and press the Next soft key or the Action button.

7.

Press the OK soft key.

8.

Check the items you want to back up (Contacts, Calendar and Tasks). If a storage card is inserted, you can also select Channels (files in the IPSM\AvantGo folder), Notes (all txt files in your Smartphone) and Voice Notes (all wav files in your Smartphone). Select the items you want and press the Next soft key.

9.

Press the Backup soft key. Press the OK soft key when the program gives a warning message.

10. The program will notify you upon completing the backup. Press the OK soft key. 11. If you use a storage card, remove the card. Do not delete or change the contents of the card.

Restoring _ N O T E ` If you added new Outlook data after backing up, move the new data to a desktop computer or another storage card unless you don’t want to keep the new data.

If your Smartphone is connected to a desktop computer, disconnect it.

2.

Close and stop all running programs.

3.

If you are restoring data form a storage card, insert the card containing the data.

4.

Open PhoneBackup.

5.

Select Restore and press the Next soft key or Action button.

Select the data you want to restore and press the Next button.

Press the Restore soft key. Press the OK soft key when the program gives a warning message.

4.7 MetalStrike MetalStrike is a two-dimensional shooting game, divided into two tasks. Each task takes place in a different landform with a variety of weapons. In a bird-view, the hero, controlled by the player, must break through stubborn enemies to proceed. During the game, the hero gets new weapons or weapon upgrades to increase his fighting power. The hero has a life trough, representing the extent of damage, and number of lives, representing the chances to continue the game. The hero fails when he used up his life trough and number of lives.

Playing MetalStrike 1.

From Home screen, press the Programs soft key, select Games and then MetalStrike. Press the Action button.

Press any button at the logo screen and then the copyright screen.

When the MetalStrike main screen appears, you can select your desired function such as:

CONTINUE loads the game previously saved.
