Once again, Lucien Pellat-Finet defines modern luxury by his relentless pursuit for quality and creative integrity while keeping a steady eye on his clients' needs. Fuelled by the 'Yes We Can' attitude, he demonstrates that daytime wear is both easy and elegant by delivering superb sweaters, embroidered t-shirts, many more cardigans as well as showing a sleight hand with shaved mink and injecting a quirky slant into traditional country house clothes. This season, Pellat-Finet's key and culturally relevant collaboration is with Mr., one of Japan's hippest artists. Discovered by Takashi Murakami in 1995, Mr.'s perversely bright eyed characters conjure up the present mania for Manga. Using three faces of Mr.'s children and placing them on sweaters and t-shirts, Pellat-Finet proves that he's the undisputed pope of cashmere by his razor-sharp pristine image and superior use of colour. As well as new versions of Pellat-Finet's signature skull and hemp series, other sweater alternatives include the 'Liechenstein-inspired pop art:' with whaam, pop, boum blazing across the chest, the 'lost in space:' firing off rockets, planets and stars, the 'color block:' capturing the designer's flare for mixing shades and the one-off Charlie Chaplin sweater. By increasingly popular demand, there are cushion versions of every single style. Continuing with the comfort is king philosophy, t-shirts and cardigans take on further relevance. T-shirts are versatile whether soft like a child's pyjama, heavily studded boasting LP-F insignia behind or thoroughly embroidered in elaborate crocodile style. Cardigans range from being lingerie-like in the finest gossamer type cashmere to 6ply Granddad-style cardigan to being spread with exquisitely embroidered tulips, un hommage à Ossie Clark. Via his cashmere sets - usually a combination of tank tops, skirts, hoodies and capes - Pellat-Finet becomes playful. He lightens the Burlington pattern by marrying it with cubism, silkscreens the slipstitch and expresses a wild whoosh in a colourful explosion. Achieving the ultimate in luxury fantasy, he goes beyond by introducing a fleece in cashmere, quilting cashmere to a fitted hoodie and delivers a shaved mink college length scarf lined with the softest matching leather embossed with LP-F skulls. Pellat-Finet further scores with his take on traditional outdoor clothes such as the pea jacket, quilted jacket, puffa jacket, corduroy blazer and cashmere herringbone tweed blazer by streamlining the fit and using his edgy black and white signature skull lining for each item. On the accessories front, the LP-F insignia continues with stainless steel medallions: outlined with real diamonds, bold faced watches and all-black or all-gold belt buckles. Leather-wise, there are money purses in rigid skull form, mini credit card cases and crocodile clutches. Finally, Pellat-Finet has moved his entire operation - both showroom and studio - to a light-filled, airy 600m2. Between its pale yellow walls; it manages to combine calm and high design by featuring a banquette by Charlotte Perriand, an armoire by Jean Prouvé and tables by Ron Arad.
