The Internet Ecologies Luis Lopez-Fernandez1 and Miguel A. F. Sanju´an2 . Recently, it has been shown that some of the models traditionally used in the context of ecology and population dynamics may also be applied for analyzing the competition dynamics of web sites in the Internet. In this direction, we propose a model based on the Lotka-Volterra competition equations which is able to extract the main characteristics of the real WWW markets. This model can be analyzed in the framework of population dynamics and the conclusions obtained may be interpreted using ecological concepts like symbiosis, collaboration and competition between species, etc. Finally, we show how the WWW market really behaves like an ecosystem, where the survival is closely tied to the strategies used by the species and their adaptation to the environment.
