THE MILLS CASE A terrible murder took place on Monday 23rd, between 1 p.m and 2 p.m Mr Mills was shot in the head. He was working in his office in London, at number 55 Ash Road. He was sitting at his desk and writing an e-mail to his lover when he was killed. The investigators found a cigarette on the floor and fingerprints on his computer. They immediately ran a DNA test but the DNA on the cigarette was Mr Mills'. Nevertheless, they found three types of fingerprints on the crime scene: his wife's, his lover's and Mr Ruben's: that was a good start for the investigation.

Mr Mills was a 45 year-old man. He was married and had no children. He was working for Apple for 5 years when he was killed. He is generally described as a very kind and generous person.

The second suspect was his mistress,

The third suspect was Mr George Ruben, one of Mr Mills' colleague : He owed him £ 5,000. It was written on a note found in the victim's office.

The betrayed wife

The first suspect was his wife, Jane Mills: she probably knew he was having an affair with Betty. She probably wanted to take revenge on her husband.

Betty Pike. She did not love him anymore and did not want to marry him.

THE INVESTIGATORS' REPORT ON THE INTERVIEW OF THE SUSPECTS •

On Monday 23rd, between 1p.m and 2p.m, Mrs Mills said she was watching a film at the cinema. She went at the Odeon in London. She was alone but she said she had a ticket to prove it.



Miss Pike said she was shopping in London. She bought a mouse for her computer and she said she kept the receipt: she also had a proof !

RESULT OF THE INVESTIGATION The police closely analysed the suspects' alibis and finally discovered that Mrs Mills was a liar. She did go to the cinema but not on the 23rd! The date written on her ticket was the 22nd. She was the guilty one!
