Today, it is essential for designers and other media professionals to be able to deliver color accurate digital files for a rapidly increasing range of applications. And, accurate softproofing is a necessity as production cycles continue to be compressed. Color management is the key and iCSyncTM now provides a cost effective solution for accurate on-screen color for both small design studios and large-scale professional color intensive environments, such as publishing networks, editorial networks, and those working with media asset management systems. Priced under $100, iCSync dramatically reduces the cost of ownership for accurate, on-screen color management. Prior to iCSync, the choice had to be made between accuracy and low cost. To achieve extremely accurate results meant investing in a measurement device. If your budget did not allow, you could create a visual profile, but with only modest results. With iCSync, you get both – accurate results and low cost. Based on its innovative WebSyncTM technology, iCSync provides a simple method for creating accurate ICC monitor profiles without the need for measurement devices. At the heart of iCSync is the most sensitive measurement device for assessing color difference – the human eye. The light emitted from the monitor is visually compared to a sample color displayed through a film swatch that is attached to the monitor. (The film swatches use a special low tack adhesive that leaves no residue on the screen.) To ensure that the monitor is properly characterized and a true spectral color mix is computed, the gamut of the films has been specifically defined to be larger than the gamut of the monitor.
Create a profile in just a few minutes Using iCSync couldn’t be easier. The application guides you through the process to very quickly create an ICC profile. You begin by adjusting brightness and contrast. Next, you place the first film swatch on screen and create a match to the adjacent color patch using a slider bar. This process is then repeated with the red, green and purple film swatches. To verify the quality of your profile, the matching process is repeated one last time with the orange film. Once this process is complete, simply save the profile and optionally set it as the default system profile. You are now ready to use your new ICC profile in any ICC compatible applications in the Macintosh® or Windows® environment.

iCSync offers another key advantage over instrumental methods. In addition to evaluating the light emitted from the monitor, iCSync also takes into account the ambient light conditions of the work environment.
