II-Euro vs. Dollar In America, people use “the US Dollar” ($). It’s their national currency, whereas in most European countries, we use “the Euro” (€) like in France, Spain or Ireland. A Euro is about $1.30 (one thirty in dollars) In Great Britain, people use the Pound Sterling (£), it is about 1.24 € (in Euros). You can buy things in Euros in London or exchange your euros into pounds in a Foreign Exchange Office.
