CM OR Inch 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 AGE of dancer: (1) Chest – Measure around the widest part of the chest. (2) Waist – Measure around the narrowest part of the belly. The dancer should be relaxed and let the dancer breathe in and out a few times. (3) Shoulder to cuff – Measure from the edge of the shoulder to where the sleeve should end. Dancer should bend the arm and measure along the elbow. For Hornpipe only. (4) Shoulder to neck – Measure from start of the neck to the end of the shoulder (where 3 starts). (5) Skirt length – Measure from (2) to the knee cap. (6) Shoulder to shoulder – Measure across the shoulder blades from shoulder seam to shoulder seam. (7) Neck bone to waist – Measure from the neck bone down the spine to the waist. (8) Hip – Measure around the widest part of the hips. For Hornpipe only. (9) Pant length – Measure the inside leg from crotch to desired length. Dancer should wear dance shoes and the pant usually ends about 5-7 cm above the floor. For Hornpipe only. (10) Upper arm – Measure around the part of the arm just above the elbow. For blouses, Aboyne, Jig dress only.
Tips
Measure over underwear. Do not add extra room for growth, children will get extra room in the side seams and skirt/pant hems Make sure the dancer is standing straight and not looking down.
