Transmission System Operators Elia, RTE and Tennet jointly take 36.7% share in EPEX SPOT EEX indirect majority shareholder of European Power Exchange Paris / Leipzig / Bern / Vienna, 19 January 2015 – The shareholder structure of the European Power Exchange EPEX SPOT SE has changed: The holding HGRT of European Transmission System Operators Elia (Belgium), RTE (France) and Tennet (Netherlands) has taken a 36.7% share in EPEX SPOT. The shares originate from EEX which now holds 13.3% (formerly 50%). In exchange, EEX Group has received the 53% stake of HGRT in French Energy Exchange Powernext. The share of Powernext in EPEX SPOT remains unchanged at 50%; EEX is indirect majority shareholder of EPEX SPOT. The change has become effective on 1st January 2015.
The direct shareholdership of Electricity Transmission System Operators (TSOs) pooled in HGRT marks a new chapter for the European Power Exchange. “TSOs are most welcome as direct shareholders of EPEX SPOT, with six seats out of the twelve Supervisory Board members, as they play a key role in integrating the European power market”, underlines Jean-François Conil-Lacoste, Chairman of the Management Board of EPEX SPOT and Executive Director Power Spot Markets of EEX. “At the same time, we reinforce our roots as an Exchange and become part of the EEX Group.” The deeper integration with TSOs supports EPEX SPOT in the coupling of the European power market. After the launch of the respective national Power Exchanges in France and Germany and the creation of the first transnational Power Exchange in continental Europe

EPEX SPOT in 2008, the new shareholder structure sets the foundations for further growth of EPEX SPOT. The European Power Exchange EPEX SPOT SE operates the power spot markets for Germany, France, Austria and Switzerland (Day-Ahead and Intraday). Together these countries account for more than one third of the European power consumption. EPEX SPOT also acts as market operating service provider for the Hungarian Power Exchange HUPX and operates the coupling between the Czech, the Slovak, the Hungarian and the Romanian markets on behalf of the local Exchanges. It is a European company (Societas Europaea) based in Paris with branches in Leipzig, Bern and Vienna. Over 220 companies from Europe are active on EPEX SPOT. 382 TWh have been traded on EPEX SPOT’s markets in 2014.

Januar 2015 – Die Aktionärsstruktur der Europäischen Strombörse EPEX SPOT SE hat sich verändert: Die Holding HGRT der europäischen Übertragungsnetzbetreiber Elia (Belgien), RTE (Frankreich) und Tennet (Niederlande) hat 36,7 % der EPEX SPOT übernommen. Die Anteile stammen von der EEX, die nun 13,3 % hält (bisher 50 %). Im Gegenzug hat die EEX-Gruppe den 53 %-Anteil von HGRT an der französischen Energiebörse Powernext erhalten. Powernext hält weiterhin unverändert 50 % an der EPEX SPOT; die EEX ist indirekter Mehrheitseigner der EPEX SPOT. Die Änderung trat am 1. Januar 2015 in Kraft.
Die direkte Beteiligung der Strom-Übertragungsnetzbetreiber (ÜNB) von HGRT markiert ein neues Kapitel für die Europäische Strombörse. „Wir heißen ÜNB als direkte Anteilseigner willkommen, mit sechs von zwölf Mitgliedern des Aufsichtsrats, denn sie spielen eine gewichtige Rolle in der Integration des europäischen Strommarkts“, betont Jean-François Conil-Lacoste, Vorstandsvorsitzender der EPEX SPOT und Executive Director Power Spot Markets der EEX. „Gleichzeitig verstärken wir unsere Wurzeln als Börse und werden Teil der EEX-Gruppe.“ Die tiefere Verbindung mit den ÜNB hilft EPEX SPOT in der Kopplung des europäischen Strommarkts. Die Europäische Strombörse EPEX SPOT SE betreibt die Strom-Spotmärkte für Deutschland, Frankreich, Österreich und die Schweiz (Day-Ahead und Intraday). Diese Länder machen zusammen mehr als ein Drittel des europäischen Stromverbrauchs aus. Zudem ist EPEX SPOT Dienstleister der ungarischen Strombörse HUPX und betreibt im Auftrag der lokalen Börsen die Kopplung der Märkte der Tschechischen Republik, der Slowakei, Ungarn und Rumäniens. Les gestionnaires de réseaux de transport Elia, RTE et Tennet prennent conjointement une participation de 36,7 % dans EPEX SPOT EEX actionnaire majoritaire indirect de la bourse européenne d’électricité Paris / Leipzig, Berne / Vienne, le 19 janvier 2015 – La structure de l’actionnariat de la bourse européenne de l’électricité EPEX SPOT SE a été modifiée : la holding HGRT des gestionnaires de réseaux de transport regroupant Elia (Belgique), RTE (France) et Tennet (Pays-Bas) a pris une participation de 36,7% dans EPEX SPOT. Les actions proviennent d’EEX qui en détient à présent 13,3% (anciennement 50%). En échange, le groupe EEX a acquis de HGRT une participation de 53% dans la bourse française de l’énergie Powernext. La participation de 50% détenue par Powernext dans EPEX SPOT reste inchangée ; EEX est l’actionnaire majoritaire indirect d’EPEX SPOT. Ce changement a pris effet au 1er janvier 2015.
L’actionnariat direct des gestionnaires de réseaux de transport d’électricité (GRT) rassemblés au sein de HGRT ouvre un nouveau chapitre pour la bourse européenne de l’électricité. « Les GRT sont les bienvenus en tant qu’actionnaires directs d’EPEX SPOT, avec six sièges de membres du Conseil de Surveillance sur douze, car ils jouent un rôle majeur dans l’intégration du marché de l’électricité européen », souligne Jean-François Conil-Lacoste, Président du Directoire d’EPEX SPOT et Directeur Exécutif des Marchés Electriques d’EEX. « Dans le même temps, nous renforçons nos racines en tant que bourse en rejoignant le Groupe EEX.»

Cette plus grande intégration avec les GRT aide EPEX SPOT dans le couplage des marchés européens de l’électricité. Après le lancement en France et en Allemagne des bourses nationales respectives et la création de la première bourse de l’électricité transnationale en Europe continentale en 2008, cette nouvelle structure de l’actionnariat pose les fondations qui faciliteront la croissance d’EPEX SPOT. La Bourse Européenne de l’Électricité EPEX SPOT SE gère les marchés électriques au comptant (Day-Ahead et Intraday) pour la France, l’Allemagne, l’Autriche et la Suisse. Ces pays représentent plus d’un tiers de la consommation électrique européenne. EPEX SPOT est également prestataire de service de la bourse hongroise HUPX pour les opérations de marché, et gère le couplage des marchés entre la République Tchèque, la Slovaquie, la Hongrie et la Roumanie pour le compte des bourses locales.
