TUSB3410/TUSB5052 Virtual COM Port Driver Installation and Uninstallation This document contains the installation and uninstallation procedure of the TUSB3410/TUSB5052 Virtual COM port driver on Windows 98SE, Windows2000 and Windows XP. The dialog boxes that are shown in this document indicate what will be seen when installing a TUSB3410UART EVM that has no EEPROM loaded in socket U5.
Driver Installation OS: Windows XP and Windows 2000 STEP 1. To install the driver, run setup.exe, located at the directory \DISK1 on the installation media. This will install all the necessary files in the default directory C:\Program Files\Texas Instruments. The progress is shown by the following windows.

Figure 2 - License agreement Although the drivers have not been certified by Microsoft WHQL, TI testing has shown that they pass the HCT test suite used by the WHQL labs. TI plans to obtain official certification in 2Q2005. Contact TI for the latest information. Because the drivers are not yet certified, the software installation warnings shown in Figure 3 and Figure 4 are generated. The reason two warnings are generated is that the driver is composed of two separate modules, one for the USB functionality and one for the serial port. Choose “Continue Anyway ” to install the drivers.

Click “Finish” as shown in Figure 5 to complete pre-installation of the drivers.

STEP 2. Connect the USB-to-serial hardware to the PC. Windows displays the Found New Hardware dialog box (“TUSB3410 device”). Select the “Install the software automatically ” option and click on “Next” in Figure 6.

STEP 3: Windows displays the Found New Hardware dialog box (USB-Serial Port). Select the “Install the software automatically” option and click on “Next” in Figure 9

Once again, choose “Continue Anyway” to install the drivers.
Click on “Finish” to complete the installation of the USB-Serial port device as shown in Figure 11 below

The device manager display for a successful installation is shown in the Figure 12 below. Choose My Computer-> Properties -> Hardware -> Device Manager to see this.

STEP 2. Connect the USB-to-serial hardware to the PC. When the system asks for drivers, point to the directory where the drivers were copied.

TUSB3410/5052 Virtual COM Port Driver Uninstallation OS: Windows XP, Windows 2000 STEP 1. To uninstall the drivers, run setup.exe, located at directory \DISK1 of the installation media. Note that when setup.exe is run for the first time, it preinstalls the drivers. Running setup.exe a second time uninstalls all the driver files and cleans up the registry entries that were added during installation. The uninstaller displays the dialog box shown in Figure 18 below. Select “OK” to uninstall drivers.

Once the device is unplugged, the uninstaller proceeds to clean up all the files added during installation and the registry entries added during installation. Click “Finish ” to complete uninstallation.
