Setting Up Follow these steps to place your iPad in your Writer. 1. Open the Writer cover, and lay it flat on a level surface. Figure 1 2. Insert your iPad into the frame. Figure 2 3. Check that the iPad is properly aligned with the frame cutouts, and sits in the frame securely. 4. Raise the iPad to the angle at which you want to work. Figure 4 5. Holding your iPad in place with one hand, use your other hand to position the keyboard on the magnetic plate, until it is at an angle which supports the frame and ensures it does not move. Figure 5 The magnetic plate keeps the Writer stable when it is set up. To hold your iPad up when typing, there are magnets in the keyboard. Pull the keyboard towards you, along the magnetic plate. When you feel the keyboard’s magnets holding on to the magnetic plate, you can move the keyboard back and forth to adjust the viewing angle.

Powering Up Follow these steps to turn on your Writer. 1. Lift the keyboard so you can see the underside. Figure 1 2. Locate the on/off switch, and slide it to the ‘on’ position. Figure 2 3. Put the keyboard down again so you can see the top. 4. Press and hold the pairing button on the top right of the keyboard, for four seconds (count to 4). Figure 4 5. The indicator LED should show a green blinking light; your Writer has enough power to function. 6. If the indicator LED blinks showing a red light, you need to recharge your Writer using the USB port.

Getting Connected Follow these steps to connect your Writer wirelessly to your iPad. 1. On your iPad, navigate to Settings > General > Bluetooth, then turn on Bluetooth. 2. Press and hold the pairing button on the top right of the keyboard, for several seconds (count to 10). The indicator LED should show a green blinking light; your Writer 2 is ready to pair with your iPad. Figure 2 3. The iPad will recognize the Writer, but will say ‘not paired’. 4. Tap on the words ‘Adonit Writer’ on your iPad screen; the iPad will ask you to accept the connection. 5. Using the Writer keyboard, enter the numerical code shown on your iPad, and press return. 6. Your iPad settings will show the Writer is connected. Once you pair the Writer successfully, you do not need to repeat these steps each time you use it; you can just open the Writer and start typing.

Resetting Your Bluetooth Sometimes you may need to reset your Bluetooth settings and try pairing again. Use the following steps. 1. Lift the keyboard so you can see the underside. Figure 1 2. Locate the on/off switch, and slide it to the ‘off’ position. Figure 2 3. On your iPad, navigate to Settings > General > Bluetooth, then turn on Bluetooth. 4. Touch the small right arrow next to ‘Adonit Writer’, then touch ‘Forget this Device’, and finally touch OK’. 5. Locate the on/off switch on the underside of the keyboard, and slide it to the ‘on’ position. 6. Put the keyboard down again so you can see the top. 7. Press and hold the power button until it starts to blink (count to 10). Figure 7 8. Complete the connection process again.

Keyboard Removal & Re-attachment You can remove or re-attach the keyboard using these steps. 1. Open the Writer cover, and lay it flat on a level surface. 2. With one hand, hold down the Writer by firmly holding the iPad. 3. With the other hand, raise the keyboard so it is pointing up at a slight angle. Figure 3 4. Pull firmly on the keyboard; it will slide out of the center piece and become detached from the Writer frame. Figure 4 5. Press docking tab down flat to reingage with the magnetic plate. 6. To re-attach the keyboard, start with the Writer laying flat on a level surface. The docking tab should be laying flat. Figure 6 7. With one hand, hold down the Writer frame by firmly holding the iPad. 8. With the other hand, slide the keyboard along the Writer’s protective surface on to the docking tab. Figure 8

Function Keys Your Writer has a row of fourteen keys along the top row of the keyboard. You can use the following table to understand the special functions of these keys. Press to return to the iPad’s ‘Home’ screen Press to bring up the iPad’s search window Press to bring up the iPad’s image gallery Press to bring up the iPad’s on screen virtual keyboard Press to perform a text ‘cut’ function when an app permits text input Press to perform a text ‘copy’ function when an app permits text input Press to perform a text ‘paste’ function when an app permits text input Press quickly to move to the next song; hold to fast forward while playing a song Press to pause or play a song Press quickly to move to the previous song; hold to fast rewind while playing a song Press to mute sound volume Press and hold to reduce sound volume Press and hold to increase sound volume Press to lock the iPad screen

Recharging Your Writer has an internal rechargeable battery, which does not need to be removed. Follow these steps to recharge your Writer’s battery. 1. Locate the micro-USB port at the top right side of the Writer. Figure 1 2. Insert the smallest end of the micro-USB cable provided with the Writer, into the port. Figure 2 3. Insert the largest end of the micro-USB cable, into a USB compatible power source such as a USB port on a computer or laptop. Take care that the power source is USB compatible. 4. A red light will indicate that the Writer is charging. 5. When the red light turns off your Writer is fully charged and ready to use.

Turning Off & On When your iPad is positioned correctly in the Writer frame, the Writer will turn on and off automatically when you open and close the cover. Use the following instructions to understand how the Writer operates when the cover is opened and closed. 1. When you close the cover, the Writer will turn off its Bluetooth connection and will not use any battery power; you will see the Bluetooth icon on your iPad change to the ‘off’ status. The Writer will also turn off your iPad. 2. When you open the cover, the Writer will wake up and you can begin typing; you do not need to re-connect it with the iPad. [email protected] | 16

Cleaning If you just want to remove specs and small dust particles, use clear tape or a lint-roller designed for clothing or furniture. To remove fingerprints, dirt, and smudges, clean the cover with a moist towelette or a damp soft rag; avoid getting any area too wet, or scrubbing too hard.

Configuration Suivez ces étapes pour placer votre iPad dans votre Writer. 1. Ouvrez le couvercle du Writer et posez le à plat sur une surface plane. Figure 1 2. Insérez votre iPad dans le cadre. Figure 2 3. Vérifiez que l’iPad soit bien aligné avec les découpages du cadre et repose solidement dans le cadre. 4. Relevez l’iPad à l’angle sous lequel vous voulez travailler. Figure 4 5. Tenant votre iPad en place d’une main, utilisez votre autre main pour positionner le clavier sur la plaque magnétique, jusqu’à ce qu’il soit à un angle qui soutient le cadre et assure qu’il ne bouge pas. Figure 5 La plaque magnétique maintient le Writer stable lors de la mise en place. Des aimants dans le clavier permettent de maintenir votre iPad redressé lorsque vous tapez. Tirez le clavier vers vous, le long de la plaque magnétique. Lorsque vous sentez les aimants du clavier maintenus sur la plaque magnétique, vous pouvez déplacer le clavier vers l’avant ou l’arrière pour ajuster l’angle de vue.

Allumage Suivez ces étapes pour allumer votre Writer. 1. Soulevez le clavier de sorte de que vous pouvez voir le dessous. Figure 1 2. Localisez l’interrupteur marche/arrêt et faites le glisser sur la position “on” “marche”. Figure 2 3. Posez le clavier à plat de sorte que vous pouvez voir le haut. 4. Appuyez et maintenez le bouton “partage de connexion” en haut à droite du clavier pendant quatre secondes (compter jusqu’à 4). Figure 4 5. L’indicateur LED devrait faire apparaitre une lumière verte clignotante; votre Writer est suffisamment chargé pour fonctionner. 6. Si le témoin clignote faisant apparaitre une lumière rouge, vous devez recharger votre Writer en utilisant le port USB.

Connexion Suivez ces étapes pour connecter votre Writer sans fil à votre iPad 1. Sur votre iPad, accédez aux Paramètres (Settings) > Général (General) > Bluetooth et puis activez la fonction Bluetooth. 2. Appuyez et maintenez le bouton de partage de connexion en haut à droite du clavier pendant plusieurs secondes (compter jusqu’à 10). Le témoin LED devrait faire apparaitre une lumière verte clignotante et votre Writer 2 est prêt au partage avec votre iPad. Figure 2 3. L’iPad reconnaitra le Writer mais indiquera “non partagé”. 4. Tapez les mots “Adonit Writer” sur l’écran de votre iPad; l’iPad vous demandera d’accepter la connexion. 5. Utilisant le clavier du Writer, saisissez le code numérique affiché sur votre iPad et appuyez sur le bouton de retour. 6. Les paramètres de votre iPad afficheront la connexion établie avec le Writer. Une fois le partage de votre Writer effectué, vous n’aurez plus à répéter ces étapes à chaque utilisation; vous pourrez simplement allumer le Writer et commencer à taper.

Réinitialisation De Votre Bluetooth Vous devrez parfois réinitialiser les paramètres de votre Bluetooth et tenter un partage de connexion. Suivez les étapes suivantes. 1. Soulevez le clavier de sorte que vous pouvez voir le dessous. Figure 1 2. Localisez le bouton marche/arrêt et faites le glisser sur la position “off” (arrêt). Figure 2 3. Sur votre iPad, accédez aux Paramètres (Settings) > Général (General) > Bluetooth, puis activez la fonction Bluetooth. 4. Appuyez sur la petite flèche à droite à côté d’Adonit Writer,’ et puis appuyez sur “Négligez ce dispositif” (Forget this Device), et enfin appuyez sur la touche OK. 5. Localisez le bouton marche/arrêt sur le dessous du clavier et faites le glisser sur la position “marche”(on). 6. Reposez le clavier à plat de sorte que vous pouvez voir le haut. 7. Appuyez et maintenez le bouton d’alimentation jusqu’à ce qu’il commence à clignoter (compter jusqu’à 10). Figure 7 8. Achevez à nouveau le processus de connexion.

Déconnexion Et Reconnexion Du Clavier Vous pouvez connecter ou déconnecter le clavier en utilisant ces étapes. 1. Ouvrez le couvercle du Writer et posez le à plat sur une surface plane. 2. Avec une main, insérez le Writer en tenant fermement l’iPad. 3. Avec l’autre main, soulevez le clavier de sorte qu’il pointe vers le haut sous un faible angle. Figure 3 4. Tirez fermement sur le clavier; il glissera et sortira de la partie et se détachera du cadre du Writer. Figure 4 5. Appuyez la station d’accueil à plat pour renouer avec la plaque magnétique. 6. Pour reconnecter le clavier, commencez par la mise en plat du Writer sur une surface plane. La station d’accueil doit être posée à plat. Figure 6 7. Avec une main, maintenez le cadre du Writer vers le bas tout en tenant fermement l’iPad en place. 8. Avec l’autre main, faites glisser le clavier le long de la surface de protection du Writer sur la station d’accueil. Figure 8

Touches Fonction Votre Writer a une rangée de quatorze touches au sommet du clavier. Utilisez le tableau suivant pour comprendre les fonctions particulières de ces touches. Appuyez pour revenir sur la page d’accueil de l’iPad. Appuyez pour faire apparaitre la fenêtre de recherche sur l’iPad. Appuyez pour faire apparaitre la galerie d’image de l’iPad. Appuyez pour faire apparaitre le clavier virtuel sur l’iPad. Appuyez pour exécuter une fonction/action ‘couper’ quand une app permet l’insertion de texte. Appuyez pour exécuter une fonction/action ‘copier’ quand une app permet l’insertion de texte. Appuyez pour exécuter une fonction/action ‘coller’ quand une app permet l’insertion de texte. Appuyez brièvement pour passer à la prochaine chanson. Appuyez et maintenez pour effectuer une ‘avance rapide’ durant la lecture d‘une chanson. Appuyez pour mettre en pause ou effectuer la lecture d’une chanson. Appuyez brièvement pour passer à la chanson précédente. Appuyez pour couper le son. Appuyez et maintenez pour diminuer le volume sonore. Appuyez et maintenez pour augmenter le volume sonore. Appuyez pour verrouiller l’écran de l’iPad. [email protected] | 14

Recharge Votre Writer est muni d’une batterie rechargeable incorporée, qui ne doit pas être retirée. Suivez les instructions suivantes pour recharger la batterie de votre Writer. 1. Repérez le port micro-USB port en haut à droite du Writer. Figure 1 2. Insérez la plus petite extrémité du câble micro-USB câble fourni avec votre Writer, dans le port. Figure 2 3. Insérez l’autre extrémité du câble micro-USB dans une source d'alimentation USB compatible tel qu'un port USB sur un ordinateur de bureau ou portable. Veillez à ce que la source d'alimentation soit bien compatible USB. 4. Une lumière rouge indiquera que le Writer est en charge. 5. Lorsque la lumière rouge s’éteint, votre Writer est complètement rechargé et prêt à l’emploi.

Éteindre Et Allumer Quand votre iPad est placé correctement dans le cadre du Writer, celui-ci s’allume et s'éteint automatiquement lorsque vous soulevez et rabattez le couvercle. Observez les instructions suivantes pour comprendre comment votre Writer fonctionne lorsqu’on soulève et rabat le couvercle. 1. Lorsque vous fermez le couvercle, le Writer éteindra sa connexion Bluetooth et ne consommera plus de courant: vous verrez l’icone Bluetooth sur votre iPad passer sur l’état “off” (éteint). Le Writer éteindra également l’iPad. 2. Dès l’ouverture du couvercle, le Writer s’éveillera et vous pourrez recommencer à taper; inutile de refaire une connexion avec l’iPad. [email protected] | 16

Nettoyage Pour enlever les taches et la poussière, utilisez un ruban adhésif transparent ou un rouleau adhésif pour vêtements ou fauteuils. Pour enlever les empreintes de doigts, la saleté et les grosses taches, nettoyez le couvercle (housse/gaine) avec une serviette humide ou un chiffon doux et légèrement humidifié: évitez de mouiller la surface excessivement ou de frotter trop fort.
